Turkey Donation

Photo by Keith Stewart Owner and operator of Sullivan McDonald’s Angie Matlock (middle) recently donated a $500 check to the Moultrie County Food Pantry, which in turn used the money to purchase turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday. Front row, L-R: Brooke Tabb, best serve percentage (94), best attack percentage (90), most digs (281), and hustle award; Kalli Martin, team spirit award; Emily Seegmiller, most aces (55), and most valuable player; Jessica Davis, best attack percentage (90), and best block percentage (19); Logan Kauffman, most improved. Sullivan Singers Present…

Photo by Keith Stewart Sullivan Singers Present... The Sullivan Singers will perform “Catch Me If  You Can” the musical, at the Little Theatre on the Square beginning Friday. It will run through Sunday with one daily performance each day. The musical will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the performance’s start. Tickets are available from any Singers member or at the First National Bank. For more information, contact Sullivan High School at 728-8311 or email Connie Mulligan at mulliganc@sullivan.k12.il.us.

Youth Charity Horse Show

Submitted Youth Charity Horse Show Hayden Baker and her horse Pocos Conversation recently competed in the 2013 Youth Charity Horse Show held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Baker and Pocos Conversation placed first in the Hunter on the Flat 11-13 years class, first in 4-H, FFA, Pony Club Hunter on the Flat 13 and under class, seventh place in Western Pleasure 11-13 years class, 4-H, FFA and Pony Club Western Pleasure 13 and under class and Parent-Child Western Pleasure class.  She is the daughter of Carl Baker of Bethany, Wendy Brookens and husband Steve of Taylorville, and the granddaughter of  Earl and Pam Baker and Jim and Barb Weeden of Pana.

WHS Student of the Month

Submitted Senior Hayden Cole, son of Cary and Karyn Cole, has been named Windsor High School’s September student of the month.  He is involved in baseball, basketball, physics club, WYSE, student council, and is the FFA President.  After graduation from high school, he plans to play baseball while attending Lake Land College.

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
