Combine Catches Fire

News Progress Posted on October 9, 2013 by webmasterOctober 9, 2013

Photo by RR Best Combine Catches Fire A combine that was harvesting corn between Windsor and Gays caught fire Saturday afternoon, but no injuries were reported. The cause has yet to be determined. According to Windsor Fire Chief Rick Allen, the combine belonged to Richard Phipps and was, in his opinion, a complete loss. Upon realizing the combine was on fire, the driver abandoned the field in hopes of preventing any remaining crop from catching fire. The combine was driven across a roadway and two ditches into an adjacent soybean field that had previously been harvested. The fire was contained within approximately 30 minutes, according to Allen.
