Photo by Crystal Reed Turkeys Donated To Moultrie County Food Pantry The tenth annual Sullivan IGA Roundup collected $1,200 from October 31 to November 6 when customers rounded up their grocery bills to donate to the Moultrie County Food Pantry. Those donations purchased 55 turkeys and 70 turkey breasts that were donated to the food pantry. Photo by R.R. Best Structure Fire Sullivan Fire Department received a call for a structure fire north east of Sullivan at 6:36 pm on Sunday, November 14. Bethany and Arthur Fire Departments were called in for mutual aid. The structure was a complete loss. There were no injuries.
Photo furnished 105th Birthday William “Dean” Bennett celebrated his 105th birthday on Tuesday, November 2. Dean is one of the few of the “Greatest Generation” left. He served his country in World War II as a member of the Army Air Force in England. He has survived two pandemics, the Great Depression, and seen travel evolve from the Model T to frequent trips to outer space. He is the devoted father of 3, grandfather of 9, and great grandfather of 23. He was blessed with 70 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart. Dean spent his life in the Windsor community and was the owner of Bennett Tire Company. He still remains active at Courtyard Estates by riding his exercise bicycle. He celebrated his birthday with family and friends at Courtyard.

Photo Furnished Brachbill Joins Scott State Bank Scott State Bank recently announced that Garrett Brachbill has recently joined the organization as a commercial lender at their Sullivan location. Garrett graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He has several years of banking experience and is also very knowledgeable in appraisals and insurance. Garrett is an avid sportsman, enjoys golfing, hunting, and is a fan of all the Chicago sports teams. He is a Shelbyville native, a member of the Sullivan Rotary Club and is looking forward to being an active part of the Sullivan community. Please join us in welcoming Garrett to Sullivan. Claire Sims is the daughter of Hank and Mary Sims. She is currently a sophomore and is involved in FFA. In spare time she enjoys taking care of her cattle. She hopes to one day become a veterinarian.
