The Sullivan Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development held their 50/50 Fourth of July Raffle. This year’s winner is Kamryn Landreth who received $4,414.50. She is pictured with Grant Wade of the SCED Board of Directors.

Rock Springs Visits Marrowbone Public Library
Rock Springs Program Specialist Brock Rowland presented “Mammals of Illinois” to children at Marrowbone Public Library on Thursday, June 16. As part of the program, those in attendance had the opportunity to touch various animal pelts including deer, coyote, beaver, red fox and skunks. Those in attendance also learned about warm and cold blooded animals and what makes them different.

The Darren Bailey and Stephanie Trussell campaign made a stop at New Life Church in Sullivan on Monday, June 20. Sullivan was stop 48 of 102 in 14 days. The campaign will be visiting all 102 counties over a two week time period. Pictured is Darren Bailey addressing those who gathered at the church to hear him speak.

Ballot Drop Box now Located on Square

Ballot Drop Box now Located on Square
A new Ballot Drop-off Box has been secured on the northwest side of the Courthouse on Hamilton Street next to the USPS drop box. Hand delivery of a voted Vote By Mail ballot has been made one-step easier by walking up or driving up to the box, sliding your envelope containing the voted ballot into the Ballot Drop-off box. The box is under 24-hour video surveillance, and ballots will be retrieved twice a day by the Election Authorities office.
To request a Vote By Mail ballot an individual may call the County Clerk’s office 217-728-4389, or go online www.moultriecountyil.gov Click: How Do I/Apply For/Vote By Mail Ballot
The voted ballot may be return by US Mail, hand-delivered to the County Clerk’s office, or dropped off in the Ballot Drop-off box

Memorial Day Observances
On Monday, May 30, Memorial Day services were held in Sullivan, Bethany, Findlay and Windsor. At the ceremony in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan this year’s speaker was Sullivan Mayor Richard Glazebrook. The Bethany American Legion Post held a service at Marrowbone Township Cemetery by the Civil War monument. Speaking at that ceremony was Pastor Rob Roy.

Sullivan Students Participate in 2022 Special Olympics

Sullivan Students Participate in Special Olympics
The Sullivan School District had 15 students participate in Track and Field Area Special Olympics at Eastern Illinois University on April 29. Our students brought back many medals, with many of them qualifying to participate at the state level. Of these students, six are going to participate at the state level at Illinois State University the weekend of June 17-19.

Dawkins NEHS submission wows 



News Progress


Mae Dawkins, a Sullivan High School senior and member of the National English Honor Society, was recently informed that she is a national winner of the NEHS Intellectual Freedom Challenge, a prestigious competition that encourages NEHS members to craft compelling arguments defending texts that have faced challenges and bans. Her essay scored among some of the best submissions in the nation by university professors. May was awarded a certificate and a $150 dollar prize.
