Baby Talk Car Seat Safety Checks
Katrina Farris, Director of Early Childhood for Mattoon School District, speaks with Abby Elzy during a car seat safety check held in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church last week in Sullivan. Farris and other Baby Talk representatives as well as a representative from the Moultrie County Health Department checked the installation of car seats and also had informational pamphlets regarding seat belts, booster seats and rear facing seats.

Frog Music at ETML
Brock Rowland, Program Specialist at Macon County Conservation District, presented a program on frogs at the Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library on Friday, August 5. Participants listened to what different frogs sound like, learned about different types of frogs and were able to see some up close.

Newspaper Kites
Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library had a week of activities for children in kindergarten-5th grades from Monday, August 1 to Friday, August 5. On Monday children made their own bird houses, Tuesday was stamp making, Wednesday was shrinky dinks, Thursday was newspaper kites and Friday, the Rock Springs Nature Center presented “Frog Music.” Pictured are Emmitt Herzog and Aniston Baker with the newspaper kites that they created.

VFW Post 6410 Installs New Officers
New officers were installed at VFW Post 6410 on Tuesday, July 19. They are Commander Kent Spencer, Senior Vice Commander Roger Davis, Junior Vice Commander Lawrence Gregory, Quartermaster and Adjutant Jeff Nichols, 1st year trustee Harry Woolen, 2nd year trustee and Service Officer Serena Briscoe. Warren Recognized for Service
Terry Warren was recognized by the Sullivan Fire Protection District for 29+ years of service during the trustees meeting on Monday, July 18.

Rock Springs Visits Marrowbone Public Library
Rock Springs Program Specialist Brock Rowland presented “Mammals of Illinois” to children at Marrowbone Public Library on Thursday, June 16. As part of the program, those in attendance had the opportunity to touch various animal pelts including deer, coyote, beaver, red fox and skunks. Those in attendance also learned about warm and cold blooded animals and what makes them different.

Bailey Trussell Campaign Visits Sullivan
The Darren Bailey and Stephanie Trussell campaign made a stop at New Life Church in Sullivan on Monday, June 20. Sullivan was stop 48 of 102 in 14 days. The campaign will be visiting all 102 counties over a two week time period. Pictured is Darren Bailey addressing those who gathered at the church to hear him speak.
