Lending Library at Mason Point

News Progress Posted on November 9, 2016 by webmasterNovember 8, 2016

Photo By Ellen Ferrera Lending Library at Mason Point Judith Brown (l) and Jean Dulik visit the little lending library at Mason Point. Ellen Dick-Ferrera, former librarian, with some help from friends at the Senior Center established the free lending library at Mason Point earlier this year. Visitors can rest on the bench and read books from the box or borrow them to bring back later. Located along a popular walking route, people living in the duplexes can take a book or leave a book, with eveyone sharing from the little library. Ferrera hopes to eventually include books from the main library and share magazines as well.

OVHS Manufacturing Day Tour

News Progress Posted on November 9, 2016 by webmasterNovember 8, 2016

Photo furnished OVHS Manufacturing Day Tour Okaw Valley freshmen, sophomores, and juniors took part in the annual Okaw Valley Manufacturing Day Oct. 28. Students had the opportunity to visit some of the local manufacturing facilities including Agri-Fab, Hydro-Gear, Mid-State Tank, Marvin Keller Trucking, IHI Turbo, GSI, and MasterBrand. Students listened to employees talk about their experiences at the companies and also went on plant tours. Through the job learner program, students have the opportunity to work at some of these facilities and gain “real world” experiences. This also helps the companies attract potential future employees.
