Longaberger Binga at Windsor
The Windsor class of 2017 will host a Longaberger Binga Fundraiser March 19 at Windsor High School. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with the games starting at 6p.m. Tickets are available from junior class members, by calling Lesley Baker or Shanna House at 459-2636 or at the door.

Donor Matches 3 Degree Donation
Moultrie County Food Pantry received WAND/IBEW 3 Degree Challenge donation on the air February 3. Director Kristy Dawson and Nancy Kenton from the Food Pantry are pictured along with Ron Cummings from IBEW Local 146 and Chief Meteorologist JC Fultz. “I am so excited that we were able to give back to an area that I grew up in!” the Bethany native said during the presentation. He announced the $1000 3 Degree donation had been matched by an anonymous donor to give the Food Pantry an additional $2000 to help those in Moultrie County.

Candidate McCarter Visits Sullivan
A meet and greet for Republican State Senator Kyle McCarter from the 54th District was held at TnT Pizzeria Tuesday, January 26. The current state senator from Lebanon is a primary candidate seeking nomination for the 15th Congressional District seat held by Republican John Shimkus. Sunday Crash
A Sunday morning traffic accident at the intersection of Jonathan Creek Road and Highway 121 sent a Sullivan man to the hospital. According to Moultrie County Sheriff’s Dept. Chief Deputy Gary Carroll, the department was called to the scene at 7:58 a.m. where they discovered a Subaru station wagon driven by Tyler Booker of Sullivan was attempting a left turn from 121 and struck a westbound Dodge pickup driven by Leroy Schrock of Sullivan. Booker was transported to Carle Hospital. Carroll noted that witnesses indicated the sun could have been a factor in the crash.

Final touches
Final touches are being put on the Moultrie County Courthouse restoration project this week. Masons Masonry Restoration of Brownstown was awarded the $203,755 bid to repair stone and tuckpointing on the 112 year old structure in August 2015. Above a Mason employee is placing the final sealer on repairs to complete the project.

OVHS Awarded Check
Okaw Valley High School was awarded a $2500 dollar check from the Monsanto Fund which donates money to high school ag departments in 40 states. The grant must be initiated by a local farmer. Mark and Andrew Bennett of rural Moultrie County nominated Okaw Valley. The money will be used for curriculum and the mission of making Okaw Valley the best ag program in the area. Windsor FFA Competes in Section Public Speaking CDE
The Windsor FFA chapter competed in the Section 16 Public Speaking Career Development Event Jan. 27. Areas of the event included FFA Creed Speaking, JV and Varsity Prepared Public Speaking, and JV and Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking.
Participating in FFA Creed Speaking, Faith Higgs was required to memorize and recite the FFA Creed as well as answer related questions. Whitney Pepperdine participated in Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking. In this event students draw a topic and are allowed 30 minutes to research and prepare a speech before giving it to a panel of judges. Bradley Farmer competed in JV Extemporaneous Speaking and placed first in his division. He will compete at the District IV Public Speaking event in April.

Fire Destroys Rural Sullivan Home
Findlay fire chief Ed Voltenburg presents burned strong box to Jim Binion following a blaze that totally destroyed his home on 850 E County Road outside Sullivan. Windsor, Bethany and Sullivan fire departments joined to fight the 12:16 p.m. January 20 fire. Sullivan Fire Department reports indicated the Binions saw flames in the center of the house and were able to escape to their daughter’s home next door. They watched the family home destroyed by fire while sitting at son-in-law and Findlay fire chief Voltenburg’s home. Red Cross also lent assistance at the fire scene. Firefighters remained at the Binion home using a backhoe to help expose hot spots until 4 p.m.

Sullivan Singers at Crete-Monee
Both Singers and Singers Jr competed in Crete-Monee Saturday, January 23. Claire Appleby was selected as Best Female in Show soloist (Jr competition), and Grant King received both Best Male in Show soloist and the Grand Champion Male Soloist in the solo competition.
