The Moultrie County farm is up for cash rent.

Members of the building and grounds committee agreed to advertise for bids on the 217.58 acre county farm, continuing the two year lease.

In order to submit a cash rent proposal the bidder must own 40 acres or live in Moultrie County. Provisions to provide 2/3 ton of lime and maintain soil quality will be included in the contract as renter obligation. The committee is looking at an August bid opening for the November 1, 2018 through October 31, 2020 contract. Read More

Michael W. Porter, 60, of Atwood, formerly of Sullivan, passed away at 10:51 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018 in Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany.  Read More

Hilda May Mercer, 94, of Decatur, formerly of Lovington, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 in her daughter’s home in Decatur.

Beverly Wood 

Beverly Sewell Wood, 81, was born in Decatur, Illinois September 9, 1936, a daughter of Forest W. (Bo) and Phyllis Wood and entered heaven’s gates on April 24, 2018.

Memorial services in celebration of Beverly’s long and happy life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2 with visitation from 10-11 a.m. at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, 503 W Jackson St. in Sullivan. Read More

Katherine Wood

Katherine M. (Horn) Wood, 77, of Sullivan, passed away May 12, 2018. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 11 to 2 at the Sullivan Country Club. Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan is in charge of arrangements.

Kathy was born August 7, 1940, in San Jose, California, the daughter of Hermann L. and Alice E. Horn. She graduated from Sunnyvale High School in 1958. She attended the University of Idaho, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and where she met her husband Steve Wood. They were married June 16, 1962 in Sunnyvale, California.  Read More
