Jim Anderson

James H. “Jim” Anderson went to his Heavenly Home Tuesday, November 7, 2017.  Funeral services were held Saturday, November 11 in Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston.  Burial followed in the Pleasant Prairie Indian Cemetery located in Pleasant Grove Township.

Jim was born May 31, 1938 in Cumberland County, Illinois, a son of the late Delbert Lee and Hollis Tate Anderson. He married Bertha Ann Gilbert May 26, 1957, and they have celebrated 60 years of marriage. In addition to his loving and devoted wife, left to cherish his memory are sons Ed Anderson and wife Carol of Mt. Pulaski, Illinois and Jason Todd Anderson and wife Jodi of rural Charleston; grandchildren Maggie Anderson, Jaden James Anderson, Alexis Anderson and J.W. Anderson; three sisters; one brother and several nieces and nephews.   Read More

Juanita A. Elzy, 92, of Sullivan passed away at 9:05 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Sullivan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, November 15) at McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.

Juanita was born October 30, 1925 in Findlay, the daughter of Herman I. and Julia Welch Spencer. She married Francis T. Elzy January 25, 1946 in Franklin, Tennessee, and he preceded her in death March 18, 1993. Juanita was a retired secretary for Progress Industries in Arthur.  Read More

On Tuesday, April 28th, under the direction of Dr. Ian Kinkley, Band Director, the Sullivan Band Program presented its symphonious Spring Band concert, titled “Evening Escapes,” which showcased the magnificent and diverse talents of the Sullivan 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands, combined with the Sullivan High School Band and Jazz Band.
