David E. Vincent, 61, of Shelbyville passed away at 5:55 p.m. December 3, 2015 in Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 8 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with the Reverend Kevin Ray officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery.

David was born December 31, 1953, a son of Paul and Mary Arms Vincent in Burkesville, Ky. He married Cinda Marlow October 17, 2003 in Shelbyville. He was a trucker for several area companies for many years.  He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed boating and fishing.  David’s life revolved around his family.   Read More

Gerald L. ‘Jerry’ Freadhoff, 68, of Sullivan, formerly of Fairbury, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Monday November 30, 2015 in Mason Point in Sullivan.

According to his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services.

Arrangements were by Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Jerry was born June 29, 1947 in Rock Falls, a son of Ernest and Eleanore Joswiak Freadhoff. He had been a teacher and was a golf and basketball coach for 32 years in Fairbury. Jerry enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a member of the Sullivan First United Methodist Church. Jerry married Janet Martin August 8, 1970 in Peoria, and she preceded him in death July 25, 2015. Delbert Buxton Dick, 92, of Windsor, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 9 a.m. December 6, 2015 in St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by family members.

Delbert was born January 8, 1923 on the family farm near Pierson, Ill. to W. E. and Bertha Buxton Dick. He married Evelyn Moody in 1947 in Arthur. Delbert and Evelyn had two children before Evelyn passed away from polio in 1953. He married Charlene Haws in 1963, and she preceded him in death.

Delbert owned a photography business in Arthur for several years and later was employed by Philes Camera Shop in Decatur before moving to the Windsor area to begin a 50+ year farming operation. When his farm was taken over by the Federal Government to become Wolf Creek State Park and Lake Shelbyville, he bought a farm near Sullivan and continued farming; later he returned to the Windsor area to live and farm near the Wolf Creek State Park that was so dear to him. Wanda Caroline Bush, 79, of Bethany, formerly of Effingham, went home to heaven at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in her home surrounded by her family.

Honoring Wanda’s wishes, cremation will take place at Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. There are no public services planned at this time.

Wanda was born one of 14 children May 10, 1936 in Green County, Ark., the daughter of Marvin and Martha Bennett Crockett.  She married Ray Arnold Bush March 11, 1956 in Effingham.

Wanda held many jobs over the years. She was a nursing assistant at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital and taught at Pathways for 15 years. The last 10 years Wanda enjoyed making jewelry, scarves, and hats and got great pleasure in giving them away. Read More

Magdalena “Mattie” Mast Schlabach, 84, of Sullivan entered into rest at 4:55 p.m. Saturday Nov. 21, 2015 in her residence in rural Sullivan.

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 24 in the pallet shop in the Willard Schlabach residence in Sullivan with Bishop William Otto officiating. Burial was in Gingerich Cemetery in rural Sullivan. Edwards Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Read More

Shirley Elaine McRill, 77, of Sullivan passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015, in Sullivan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at 11a.m. Friday, December 4 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.

Shirley was born June 21, 1938 in Sullivan, a daughter of Hobart “Hub” and Diamond Bailey Woolen. She married Ronald Eugene Kincade May 11, 1958, and he preceded her in death May 24, 1974. She later married Bennie McRill October 28, 1977, and he preceded her in death October 4, 2011. She was a member of the Kaskaskia Country Club in Arcola. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafting, golfing and fishing. Read More

Robert Stanley Emel, 83, of Sullivan, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.

A reception for family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 27 in Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan. Private family services will be at a later date.

Born July 27, 1932, Stanley was the son of Ralph and Lena Emel. He married Charlotte Pierce December 9, 1951. He is survived by his loving wife. Their extraordinary marriage has always been and will always be an inspiration to all of their family. Read More

The Moultrie-Douglas County Fair Pageant will be held Monday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. for Little Miss Fair Queen and 7:00 p.m. for Miss and Junior Miss Fair Queen located at the south track on the Mo-Do Fairgrounds. Vying for the title of Miss Moultrie Douglas Fair Queen are: Abigail Meyer of Tuscola, Addee Mulligan of Arcola, Sarah Rogers of Atwood, Ava Whitson of Tuscola, Addisyn Wilson of Villa Grove, Emma Spillman of Tuscola, Aymara Leal of Arcola and Katilyn Kirby of Sullivan.
