Margaret June Grinslade

Margaret June Grinslade 93, of Lancaster, NY formerly of Dalton City, IL passed away at 7:54 a.m., February 8, 2017, in her daughter’s residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Free Methodist Church, 930 N. Range Road, Peoria, IL 61604. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

Margaret was born April 11, 1923, in Decatur, IL the daughter of George and Leta Isabelle (Roney) Dickson. She married Phillip Ray Grinslade on March 15, 1943. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1993. Margaret had formerly worked as a butcher and grocery clerk for the grocery store in Dalton City.

Surviving are her children: Robert Ray Grinslade and his wife Shirley of Bradford, IL, Mary Jo Hill and her husband Michael of San Antonio, TX, and Margaret “Susan” Grinslade of Lancaster, NY; grandchildren: Scott Grinslade and his wife Sarah of Peoria Heights, IL, Bobbi Grinslade of Peoria, IL, Tracey Langsfeld of San Antonio, TX, Gary Langsfeld and wife Martha of Burlington, KY, Claudette Mabry or San Antonio, TX, Mary Ruotolo and her husband Chris of Hackettstown, NJ, Jeff Gossett and wife Lena of Bradford, IL, Kim Mitchell and husband Kevin of Clinton, IL and Gabriella Brueggemann of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are twelve great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her beloved son: Samuel D. Grinslade. brothers: George and Robert and her sister: Dorothy.

Kathryn C. Armstrong, 99, of Sullivan, died 2:30 p.m. Monday (February 6, 2017) in the Sullivan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mound Cemetery, Charleston. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice. Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Mrs. Armstrong was born September 30, 1917 in Rardin, Illinois, the daughter of Jesse and Martha Brown Keigley. She was a homemaker. Kathryn married J. Kenneth Armstrong on December 8, 1937 in Rockville, Indiana and he preceded her in death on November 29, 1993.

Survivors include her daughters B. J. Armstrong of Sherman Oaks, CA and Jodi Golden of Sullivan; grandchildren Cory (Dee) Golden of Mattoon and Casey (Smitty) Smith of Sullivan; great grandchildren Zack Shoot, Hudson Golden, Kaylee Jo Smith and Kiptyn Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great granddaughter Peyton Smith and one brother.

Barbara Ann Reedy, 79, of Sullivan, formerly of Lovington, died 6:20 a.m. Wednesday (February 1, 2017) in Mason Point, Sullivan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at the St. Isidore Catholic Church, Bethany with Fr. Steve Arisman and Fr. John Sohm celebrants. Burial and Rite of Committal will be in the St. Isidore Cemetery, Bethany. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. A prayer service will be 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Moultrie County Beacon, St. Isidore Catholic Church, the Moultrie County Relay for Life. Mrs. Reedy was born February 5, 1938 in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Cecilia Bueker Niemann. Barbara worked at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Records from 1956 - 1963. After that she was a stay-at-home mom to her children. She was a member of the St. Isidore Catholic Church, Moultrie County Home Extension, Scott State Bank bowling team and Lovington Library Board. Barbara married Gerald Reedy on October 27, 1962 at St. Mary’s Church at Green Creek, IL.

Survivors include her husband Gerald, children Teresa (Tim) Stepp of Palatine, IL, Christopher (Kathy) Reedy of Redfield, AR, Jill Reedy of Sullivan and Meg Reedy of Palatine; grandchildren Robert Reedy, Ashlen Reedy, Cory Reedy, Dallas Reedy, Shania Reedy and Matt Stepp; two great grandchildren; sisters Sarah Parks of Louisville, KY, Margaret Niemann of Effingham, Sister Josephine Niemann of St. Louis, MO and Carolyn Braun of Effingham; sister-in-law Bernadette Niemann of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jeanette Ferrick, Sister Irene Niemann, Mary Conlin; brother John Niemann and a grandson Ben Stepp.

Nina L. Glazebrook, 92, of Sullivan passed away at 5:00 a.m. Thursday (January 19, 2017) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon. Mother left us this morning for a home with no pain. A devoted Christian and loving mother who taught us all about the love of God and the power of family. It is with a heavy heart that she has left us but knowing she is with her Lord and Savior.

Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday (January 23, 2017) in the Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Zoll and Ron Bartenen officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Sunday (January 22, 2017). Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan. Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation or to Downs Syndrome. Nina was born February 26, 1924 in Opdyke, Illinois the daughter of Henry and Sula Smith Marlow. She had worked at the Depot in Sullivan and the Moultrie County Counseling Center.

Nina was a member of the Sullivan Church of God.

Surviving are her sons Marion ‘Turk’ (Judy) Glazebrook of St. Augustine, Florida, Richard (Carol) Glazebrook of Sullivan, Roger Glazebrook of Sullivan, Jim (Teena) Glazebrook of Joliet; daughters Helen Glazebrook of Sullivan and Sarah (Todd) Glazebrook Perry of Findlay; grandchildren Brian Glazebrook, Amanda Glazebrook, Allyson Kunz, Carley Scott, Kelly Bennett, Joy Courtright, Jaime Kamb, Jill Wilson, Jay Glazebrook, Carl Gilmore and Lisa Gilmore; great grandchildren Scarlett Glazebrook, Lily Glazebrook, Rylee Kunz, Molly Kunz, Carra Scott, Brandon Scott, Leigh Spear, Sara Bennett, Lily Kamb, Lexi Kamb, Avry Wilson, Ben Gilmore, Jon Gilmore and Nicolas Gilmore and great great grandchildren Landon Spear and Hadley Spear.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jessie, sister Gladys and Mildred and daughter in law Sara ‘Sally’ Glazebrook.

Those Saturday morning conference calls won’t be the same without mom.

Donnabelle Frazier, 85, of Sullivan died 12:30 a.m. Wednesday (January 4, 2017) in Mason Point, Sullivan.

Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday following the visitation in the French Cemetery, Allenville, with Bob Vail officiating. Donnabelle was born September 18,1931 in Bruce the daughter of Pearl William and Susie G. Fleming Myers. She had worked at the Illinois Masonic Home as a young woman, spent many years as a homemaker and then managed the IGA Deli in Sullivan for many years before her retirement. She was a member of the Sullivan VFW Auxiliary and the Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary. Donnabelle married George W. ‘Pat’ Frazier on September 4, 1954 in LaJolla, California and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1999.

Surviving are her daughter Sue (Dave) Morrow of Gainesville, Florida; son Bill (Lora) Frazier of Sullivan; grandchildren Mandy N. Frazier, Samantha Armer and Gabby Frazier and two great grandchildren Renee and Malia Frazier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter Gloria Armer.

Rick L. Armer, 55, of Sullivan, passed away at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday (November 16, 2016) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Bob Vail officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Bethany with military rites conducted by the Sullivan American Legion Post # 68. Memorials are suggested to the Moultrie County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Rick was born July 14, 1961 in Decatur, the son of Benton C. and Linda S. Hughes Armer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Rick was a quality control inspector for Caterpillar in Decatur. He married Gloria M. Frazier on January 30, 1988 in Sullivan and she preceded him in death on August 12, 2015.

Surviving are his daughter Samantha Armer (Adrian Tello) of Alpharetta, Georgia; parents Benton C. and Linda S. Armer; sister Rhonda (Keith) Newberry and special friend Cathy Fritz, all of Sullivan.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and brother Frank.

 Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in the Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany.  Janet was born October 9, 1951 in Decatur the daughter of Warren G. and Luzetta Gaston Ferguson. She had worked at the Gaddis Home in Lovington, GE in Decatur, McDonalds in Sullivan, Hardees in Mt Zion and Caseys in Bethany. She was a member of the Grant Street Church of Christ in Sullivan. Janet married Dean Craig on December 10, 1977 in Sullivan.

 Surviving are her husband Dean of Sullivan; daughter Dena (Chuck) Norris of Lovington; son Brandon Craig of Dalton City; mother Luzetta Ferguson of Sullivan; brother, Denny (Pete) Ferguson of Bethany; grandsons Jacob Book-Hart and Justin Norris and several nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her father, son Justin and a daughter Kim.

 Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2016 in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan with Pastor Grant Wade officiating. The family requests casual attire. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Odd Fellows Rebekah Home, Mattoon. Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan is in charge of arrangements.  Mr. Rankin was born July 14, 1942 in Ash Grove Twp., Shelby County, IL, the son of Eugene W. and Alice L. Day Rankin. Bill worked for the City of Sullivan as the plant operator at the Sewer Dept. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and the Sullivan First Christian Church.Survivors include his children James Wessley (Loretta) Rankin of Ozark, Missouri and Ella May (Jason) Walters of Mattoon; granddaughter Jennifer Rose Johnson; step grandchildren Emma Walters, Janet, Katherine, Ressie and Emily Ellis and a sister-in-law Linda Henderson of Mattoon.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters Glenda and Rosalee and a sister Margie Lou Rankin.

Alice E. Lawyer, 63, of Arthur died at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 in her home.

Services for the former Lovington resident will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 20 in Wyman Park in Sullivan. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born Jan. 8, 1953 in Champaign, a daughter of Ross and Leota Mathis Chenoweth. A retired postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service, she also managed Rusty’s in La Place. She was an EMT with the Lovington Ambulance Service and a member of La Place United Methodist Church and Lovington Village Board.

Surviving are daughters Cristy Ritchie of Cerro Gordo, Jamie Franklin of Lovington and Katie Swanson of Panama City, Fla.; sisters Ann Finke, Carol Benedict and Kathy Price, all of Lovington; brothers Dick Chenoweth of La Place, Dennis Chenoweth of Lynchburg, Va. and David Chenoweth of Spring Hill, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson.

Memorials are suggested to Decatur Memorial Hospital Hospice.

Russell Glenn Wiley, 91, formerly of Sullivan and Mattoon, passed away 7:34 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home in Sullivan. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to Heartland Christian Village Auxiliary, 101 Trowbridge Rd, Neoga, IL 62447 or to the donor’s choice.

Russell Glenn Maricle was born October 12, 1924, in Mattoon. He was later adopted by his parents Melvin and Fern (Ridgeway) Wiley of Sullivan. He married Louise Brown of Humboldt on March 23, 1947 in Bethany; she survives. Russell was a 1943 graduate of Mattoon High School. He was a life-long farmer of Moultrie County and also worked several years as a television repairman. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Mattoon and a former member of the Allenville Christian Church where he served as an elder. Russell was also a member of the Moultrie County Farm Bureau. He loved spending time on the farm as well as time with his family and friends. He enjoyed many card games throughout the years. He will be missed by many.

Russell is survived by his son, Marvin G. (Mary Ann) of Sullivan; daughter, Judy (Gary) Erlandson of Elberton,GA; grandsons, Toby (Beth) Wiley and children Evanger, Kate and Caleb of Arthur; Kory (Tonya) Wiley and children Torie and her son Hunter, Kolton of Sullivan; and Brandon Erlandson of Elberton, GA; granddaughters, Dr. Christine (Jonathan) Waller and daughters Leah of LaCrosse, WI, and Ashlynne (Sven) Steen and their son Trenton of Springfield; Karol (1SG Brad) Hart and their daughter Devyn of Clarksville, TN; Sabra (Adam) Bozman and children Christian and Lexie of Murfreesboro, TN; and Amy (Taylor) Mangiaracino and daughters Valorie and Ayla of Imperial, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jane.
