All-State Honors for ALAH Runner

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond cross country runner Layton Hall competed in the Class 1A State Cross County meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria Saturday.
Hall earned all-state honors with a 21st place finish and a time of 15:30.95.

Hatchet Volleyball Team Dominates Regional Tournament

The No. 1 seeded Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg volleyball team knocked off Neoga and Okaw Valley to win the Hutsonville Class 1A Regional championship Thursday.
The Hatchets, the National Trail Conference champions, advanced to the sectional semifinals where they easily defeated North Clay at Effingham St. Anthony’s Enlow Center Monday night.
Against North Clay, a team WSS defeated Sept. 27 and in last year’s sectional championship, WSS defeated the Lady Cardinals 25-8, 25-16 this year to advance to the sectional championship against Decatur St. Teresa.
Megan Schlechte recorded six aces, 10 kills and digs, and Mackenzi Tabbert tallied 14 assists and three digs.
Carson Cole collected four assists and nine digs, and Calla Roney hit six kills. Read More

ALAH Volleyball Knocks Off Oakwood at Regionals

The No. 4 seeded Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond volleyball team defeated Oakwood in its first game of the Class 2A Joseph-Ogden Regional but lost to the host team in the championship match.
In the regional title match, the Knights lost to the Spartans in straight sets, 25-17, 25-18.
Taylor Powell totaled five kills and eight digs, and Michaela Powell added four kills and four digs.
Marissa Herschberger recorded 13 assists, three digs and an ace.
Kara Yoder two kills and a one dig, and Addi Tinkle had one kill and three digs. Read More

OV Freshman Competes in Sectionals
Okaw Valley freshman cross country runner Karlie Stauder placed in the Decatur St. Teresa Class 1A Sectional meet at the Hickory Point Golf Course Saturday.
Stauder finished in 61st place with a personal best (by 12 seconds) of 20:58.37.

OV Takes Martinsville in Regional Play

The No. 4 seeded Okaw Valley volleyball team defeated Martinsville in the Hutsonville Class 1A Regional, but lost to the No. 1 seeded Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in the title match.
Last Tuesday in the semi-finals match, OV downed Martinsville in strait sets, 25-22, 25-19.
Paige Coleman contributed 10 kills and 16 digs, and Madison Voegel added six kills, two digs and three blocks. Read More

Swim Team Competes at Olympia

The swim team participated in the Olympia swim meet this past week.
Senior Anna Wooters had six first place finishes and one second place finish.
Natalie Drury placed first in one event and second in four events.
Wooters brought home second place in the open division while Drury brought home a fifth place finish. Read More

SOV Football Closes Season

The Sullivan/Okaw Valley football team finished its second straight year without a win.
SOV lost its last game of the season 48-0 to Central A&M in Moweaqua Friday night.
The Raiders scored 28 points in the first on four running touchdowns, including three runs of at least 30 yards.
Central A&M scored 20 points in the second quarter and held on from there.
SOV finished the season 0-9 overall and 0-7 in the Central Illinois Conference.

ALAH Knights Finish Season Against Cumberland

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond football team finished its season on senior night with a 35-7 loss against Cumberland Friday.
Cumberland scored first on an 86-yard run that ended the first quarter, but linebacker Lucas Otto blocked the extra point kick, leaving the score 6-0.
The Knights answered and on a fourth-down play with 1:03 left in the second quarter when Caleb Nettles ran for a 28-yard touchdown, and Aaron Likens kicked in the extra point to take a 7-6 lead.
But with less than a minute before halftime, Cumberland ran a trick play that started as a sweep play to a lateral pass from the back to Cumberland quarterback Myles Gerhardt, who tossed it for a touchdown.
Cumberland took a 14-7 lead with 55 second in the half. Read More
