Knights Post Top Ten Winners at Carlinville Sectional

ALAH cross country’s Logan Hall was meet champion in Carlinville with a 15:17.87 time.

On a cold and windy day, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond boys’ cross country team placed 13th with a score of 313 in the Class 1A Carlinville Sectional in Loveless Park Saturday.

The Knights had two top-10 finishers who earned all-sectional honors and a trip to the state track meet.

Logan Hall was meet champion with a time of 15:12.87.

Layton Hall placed 10th with a personal-record time of 15:49.18. Read More

Okaw Valley Reigns as Regional Volleyball Champions

The excitement was evident in Okaw Valley with the volleyball team’s first Regional Championship. Bella Benning, Kate Jeffers and Natalie Jeffers expressed the emotions of the winning team and the crowd that supported them.

After losing four straight games to end the regular season, the Okaw Valley volleyball team turned it around at the perfect time.

The Timberwolves took advantage of hosting the Class 1A regional in Bethany by knocking off Decatur Lutheran in the quarterfinals and revenging an earlier loss to Cerro Gordo to face No. 1 seeded Broadlands Heritage in the regional championship.

OV upset the Little Okaw Valley Northwest division foe to win its first regional championship in Okaw Valley, Findlay and Bethany’s history, but the Timberwolves could not carry over that moment into a first-round sectional loss to North Clay. Read More

Max Doris wins the big bass award with this 5.09lb catch at the Sangamon Valley Open hosted at Clinton Lake on Sunday, October 22. Max is a freshman at Okaw Valley High School. Sophomore Eric Boomer also attended as a member of the Okaw Valley Fishing Team.

Sullivan Volleyball Falls to Wooden Shoes

The Sullivan volleyball team dropped its last three matches, including a first round loss to Teutopolis in the Class 2A Shelbyville Regional Monday night.

The regional loss against the Wooden Shoes (25-10, 25-13) ended the Redskins’ season.

Madi Wall and Maddie Dickens combined 17 for passes, and the team recorded three kills. Read More

Lake Shelbyville Eco-Meet

The 41st Annual Lake Shelbyville Eco-Meet, coordinated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was held at Camp Camfield Ecological Study Area October 12.

The Eco-Meet is an environmental competition for school students that are in junior high and high school. Junior varsity teams are comprised of four students from grades seven and eight. Varsity teams are made up of four high school students from grades nine through 12. A total of 140 students from 35 schools competed in this year’s event. Read More

ALAH Volleyball Undefeated in Little Okaw Conference

In preparation for a regional run, the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond volleyball team defeated Decatur Lutheran Thursday and Arcola last Tuesday to push its record to 26-3 overall and undefeated at 7-0 in the Little Okaw Valley Conference.

Against LSA, the Knights won 25-14, 25-7.

Hannah Wallen recorded nine kills and two digs, and Taylor Powell had nine kills, a dig and an assist.

Madison Brown recorded 23 kills, and Marissa Herschberger had four digs. Read More

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond football team dropped its last game of the year to Villa Grove/Heritage 44-7 to end its season.

VGH scored 12 points in the first quarter and 16 in the second to take a commanding lead at half.

Kobe Wells scored the lone touchdown with a 36-yard run down the right side of the field.

He ran the ball five times for 43 yards and caught two passes for 33 yards. Read More
