With 21 players on the roster, Sullivan boys’ golf team looks to be reloading this season after finishing strong at the state golf meet the last two years.
The added benefit of rescheduling football from fall to spring is that the golf team picked up three players (Karin Elder, Ian Plank and Matt Welch) for this season.
The Sullivan boys’ golf team has not lost a dual meet since Sept. 20, 2017 and that one-stroke loss (174-175) was to a much larger Class 2A Effingham team.
Last season, the Redskins finished fifth with a score of 337 in the Class 1A state golf meet at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington. The team placed 11th in state in 2018. Read More

•August 12, 2020•

The large majority of officials are older, and younger officials have not been signing up at the rate needed to fill every IHSA event throughout the season.
Now, the pandemic has made the IHSA’s task even more difficult.
IHSA Assistant Executive Director Sam Knox is responsible for football, wrestling, baseball in the officials department and has been actively recruiting officials via high school and college officiating classes, social media platforms and local official associations with members who have connections with people in their communities. Since the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Board of Directors announced on July 29 its intended plans for the 2020-21 school year, athletic directors and coaches from all over Illinois have been scrambling to implement unprecedented scheduling changes.
The scheduling changes include playing all sports over the course of truncated fall, winter, spring, and summer seasons. The plan has been sent to the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) for final approval.
Football, boys soccer, and girls volleyball are scheduled to shift from a fall to a spring schedules.
“This plan, like nearly every aspect of our current lives, remains fluid,” said IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson. “Changes may come, and if they do, we will be agile while putting safety and students first. It was important that we provide a framework today for our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and officials to begin preparing for the 2020-21 school year.” Read More
