ALAH Knights Split a Pair of Games

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond boys’ basketball team split a pair of games this past week.
The Knights knocked off Arthur-Okaw Christian in Arthur Friday, 67-40.
ALAH jumped out to a five-point lead in the first quarter, then added to that lead each every other quarter.
The Knights overwhelmed AOC with a balanced offense. Three Knights scored in double digits.
Freshman Kaden Feagin led the team with 12 points and seven rebounds to go with two assists. Read More

ALAH Girls’ Basketball Team Defeats Pirates of Cumberland

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond girls’ basketball team defeated Cumberland Thursday but lost to Mattoon Saturday.
Monday’s game again Monticello was cancelled because of inclement weather.
Against the Pirates of Cumberland, ALAH took advantage of strong third and fourth quarters to pull away for the 51-32 win.
After a three point halftime lead, the Knights outscored the Pirates in the third 20-13 and in the fourth 13-4 for the win.
Junior Mackenzi Bowles scored a team-high 18 points to go with eight rebounds, two assists and four steals.
Sophomore Mallory Nichols, freshman Charley Condill and junior Makenzie Brown each scored six points. Read More

W-L Cardinals Downed by Sullivan Girls Basketball Team

NP Sports EditorThe Sullivan girls’ basketball team picked up another Lincoln Prairie Conference win this week.
Sullivan took advantage of strong first and third quarters for the 50-36 win over Warrensburg-Latham.
The Redskins doubled the Cardinals’ scoring 14-7 in the first quarter, and in the third quarter, Sullivan again double W-L 16-8 to pull away for the win. Read More

Tough Week for Sullivan Redskin Boys Basketball Team

NP Sports EditorThe Sullivan boys’ basketball team dropped three games this week to fall to 0-7 on the season.
The Redskins lost to Okaw Valley last Tuesday, Neoga Friday and Villa Grove/Heritage Saturday.
Against the Blue Devils Saturday, Sullivan battled back from a 21-10 halftime deficit to make a fourth-quarter run.
After cutting the lead to ten points in the third quarter, Sullivan went on a 13-5 run in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough in the 36-34 loss.
Junior Ian Plank led the Redskins with 16 points and two rebounds. Read More

Blue Dolphins Bring Home Medals from Bourbonnais
The Sullivan Blue Dolphins competed at Bourbonnais. Many swimmers took home medals and Ethan Schmohe broke three of his own team records in the 100 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, and the 100 Butterfly.
High Point Winners from the meet were Addie Hendry, Johnathan Iabobazzi, Mason Booker, Isaac Chambers, Ethan Schmohe, Matthew Wesselman, Lilly Graham, Mackenzie Erixon, Gabrielle Spain, and Madalyn Booker.

Knights Knock off Oakwood; Meridian Dominates Fourth for Win

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond boys’ basketball team split a pair of games this past week.
The Knights knocked off Oakwood Friday night but lost to Meridian Saturday.
At Fithian Friday, ALAH took advantage of accurate 3-point shooting and a nine-point run in the second quarter for a 35-24 halftime lead.
From there, the Knights held on for the 78-66 win.

A Two Win Week for OVHS Boys Basketball Team

The Okaw Valley boys’ basketball finished the week 2-1 with big wins over Nokomis and Shelbyville and a loss to Tuscola.
Monday night, Tuscola ended OV’s two-game winning streak in another close game, 61-58.
OV jumped out to an early 21-13 first-quarter advantage.
The Warriors cut that lead to three by halftime, but OV extended the lead in the third quarter to 49-40 lead.
Down the stretch though, the Timberwolves were not able to hold the lead in the fourth.
Tuscola made five fourth-quarter 3-pointers to help regain the lead for the win.
Eli Hagerman scored a game-high 27 points, including 13 in the first quarter. He made seven 3-pointers in the game.
Cameron Sharp followed with 11 points, and Nichols scored six points. Read More

ALAH Girls Basketball Team Downs Tri Valley

After a non-conference game against Maroa-Forsyth last Tuesday, the Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond girls’ basketball team entered its inaugural year into the Lincoln Prairie Conference with games against Villa Grove/Heritage, Tri-Valley and Argenta-Oreana.
ALAH finished this week’s of games 2-2.
The Knights defeated Tri-Valley at Downs Saturday 44-26.
ALAH took control of the game early with an 18-4 first-quarter run and held on to the lead from there.
Mackenzi Bowles scored a team-high 18 points and seven blocks to go with six rebounds and three assists.
Alexa Miller collected a team-high nine rebounds, five assists and six steals. Read More

Sullivan Girls Basketball Picks Up Conference Win

The Sullivan girls’ basketball team was listed as the ninth ranked Class 2A team in the first state rankings of the season.
The Redskins split a pair of games this week, defeating Shelbyville and losing to Champaign Central Monday night.
Thursday night, Sullivan picked up a Central Illinois Conference win against Shelbyville.
After a tied first quarter, Sullivan busted the game open with a 27-9 second-quarter run to take a 36-18 halftime lead.
In the second half, Sullivan held on to its lead for the 58-40 win. Read More

Two Conference Hits for OVHS Girls

The Okaw Valley girls’ basketball team dropped two Lincoln Prairie Conference games this past week.
OV lost to Arcola Thursday and Villa Grove Heritage Monday.
Against Arcola Thursday night, OV fell behind early 21-13 in the first quarter and could not recover in the 61-38.
Senior Kate Jeffers scored a team-high 12 points, and Mia Harris added nine points. Read More
