Friday Jan. 26 - OV boys’ basketball team beat number 1 seed LSA to win the LOVC NW Championship by a score of 38-36. The boys gave up a total of 83 points in three games showing toughness on the defensive end.

The Okaw Valley girls’ basketball team knocked off Argenta-Oreana and Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond to win the Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest Division championship.
OV advanced to the LOVC Tournament championship game but came up short against No. 7 state ranked Tri-County, Saturday, Jan 20.
To finish the busy week, OV again defeated ALAH in a regular season LOVC game at Arthur Monday, Jan 22 to stay undefeated in the LOVC at 2-0.
In the LOVC NW Division championship game, OV guard Paige Robinson scored a career-high 40 points to help the Timberwolves top ALAH 60-39. Read More

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond boys’ basketball team finished one of its best stretches of the season this past week.
The Knights finished the week 3-0, including an opening win in the Little Okaw Valley Conference.
“It was a really good week for us,” said ALAH coach Dale Schuring. “We played probably our best two games of the season this week, and we were also able to pick up the win to start conference division play.”
The Knights knocked off Tri-County, Argenta-Oreana and Cerro Gordo-Bement.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond girls’ basketball team defeated Arcola to reach the Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest Division championship but lost to Okaw Valley at Decatur LSA Thursday night.
ALAH lost the third-place game against Villa Grove/Heritage Saturday and then lost a rematch to OV Monday, Jan 22.
Wednesday, Jan. 17, ALAH knocked off Arcola 52-38 to send them to the LOVC NW Division championship game.
After falling behind a point in the first quarter, ALAH outscored Arcola 18-5 to pull away for a 30-18 halftime lead.
The Knights held on in the third and fourth quarters for the win. Read More

The Okaw Valley boys’ basketball team defeated Sangamon Valley 67-16 to advance to the semifinals game earlier this week.
The Timberwolves scored 27 points in the first quarter, led by Austin Hill who had 10 and held Sangamon Valley to five points.
OV outscored Sangamon Valley 15-3 to extend its lead and did not look back. Read More

The Sullivan boys’ basketball team dropped a Central Illinois Conference game Friday night at home.
After a first quarter 10-10 tie, St. Teresa took advantage of an 18-6 second quarter run for a 28-16 halftime lead.
Sullivan stayed even in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth for the 52-36 win.Freshman Dominick Kimberlin scored a team-high 10 points, and Josh Stutzman followed with nine points, including two 3-pointers.
Isaiah Plank recorded six points, and Caden Ellis had five.
Jacob White and Zach Sowers recorded four and two points, respectively, to round out the Redskins’ scoring.
Sullivan is set to enter the CIC Tournament with games scheduled for Saturday and Monday.[/s2If]

The Sullivan girls’ basketball team defeated Shelbyville last Thursday and won in the first round of the Central Illinois Conference Tournament Saturday to improve the teams’ overall record to 11-8.
Last Thursday in the Hoopin’ for a Cure game to help support Megan Buxton Thompson the Redskins defeated Shelbyville 73-16.
“It was a good win, and we were able to play all of the girls tonight,” said

The Redskins did not allow the Rams to score a single point in the first quarter, while Sullivan scored 17. Read More

The Sullivan boys’ basketball team defeated Cerro Gordo/Bement to win its Central Illinois Conference opener Friday night.
The game was close after the first quarter, 17-16, but Sullivan took its one-point lead and turned it into a double-digit lead at half, 28-18, by outscoring CBGD 11-2 in the second quarter.

A poor second quarter doomed the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond boys’ basketball team in a nonconference battle against Central A&M last Tuesday.
The Knights fell behind seven points in the first quarter, but it was a 20-8 second-quarter run for the Raiders that extended the lead to 39-20 at the half.
ALAH outscored A&M in the second half 28-26, but it wasn’t enough in the eventual 65-48 loss.
Colton Romine tallied a team-high 15 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks to lead the Knights. Read More
