“It has been a wild weekend!” said OV coach Brad Ackers.

In Monday night’s sectional game, OV fell behind 11-6 early in the first quarter but battled back to tie the game at 13, and from there both teams went back and forth with the Timberwolves taking a one-point lead into the half, 25-24.

OV extended the lead to 46-43 by the end of the third quarter, but it was an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter that helped put the game away for the Timberwolves.

With a three-point lead, 48-45, a basket by Madison Vogel, four straight points from Paige Robinson and two free throws from Natalie Jeffers extended the lead 56-45 with about four minutes left in the game.

OV fought off Altamont the rest of the way for the 68-58 win.

The Knights knocked off Okaw Valley Friday but lost to Decatur LSA last Tuesday.

The Knights took a 37-30 after the third quarter and stretched that lead in the fourth quarter for the 48-35 win.

Sullivan Blue Dolphins had 19 swimmers qualify to compete at the 35th annual Circle City Classic meet in Indianapolis. In order to attend swimmers had to meet a qualify time in the events. SBD took the largest number of qualifying swimmers this season.

Swimmers representing the Dolphins were Madalyn Booker, Mason Booker, Calista Clark, Emily Crosier, Natalie Drury, Mackenzie Erixon, Brodie Goss, Johnathan Iacobazzi, McKenna Kull, Alivia Melvin, Sofia Nuzzo, Allison Oligschlaeger, Jessica Renfro, Devon Richardson, Ethan Schmohe, Ryan Schodlatz, Gabrielle Spain, Natalie Turnbaugh and Anna Wooters.

Head coach Jason Drury, while proud of his swimmers’ success in having the largest numbers qualify, said the experience they get walking into this level of competition is what he is excited for.

The Dolphins next compete at Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington before finishing out the short course season with the championship meet season.
