Okaw Valley Golfers Win Hosted Triangular Meet at Eagle Creek

Okaw Valley varsity golfers hosted a triangular meet at Eagle Creek Aug. 30.

The Okaw Valley team won with a 174. Shelbyville was second with a 192 followed by Mt. Pulaski at 248.

Medalist was Tanner Coleman, Okaw Valley 41.

Knights Improve V-ball Record

Knights volleyball improved the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond varsity record to 3-0 following a two set win over Villa Grove Sept. 1.

Neoga Over Okaw Valley in Three

Okaw Valley High School varsity volleyball had three close sets with Neoga Sept. 1 with the host team winning the match 2-1.

The visitors came out strong with Okaw Valley taking Neoga 25-23 in the first set. Neoga took advantage edging Okaw Valley by three points 25-22. The toughest match went down to the wire with Neoga winning the set 27-25 and the match. Read More

Arcola Golf Coop Stays on Top

Arcola golf won a triangular match September 1 vs. Oblong and Villa Grove at Kaskaskia Country Club.

Clayton Miller was the medalist shooting another even par round 35. Shandon Hershchberger was runner up shooting a one over 36. Arcola-ALAH record is now 11-1.

Teutopolis Wins Girls Cross Country in Sullivan

Girls’ cross country teams from Teutopolis and Sullivan Okaw Valley met at Tabor Park Aug 25 with the T-town team getting first with 22 points and SOV girls scoring 37.

Arcola-ALAH Golf Wins at Moweaqua

Sullivan golfer Caden Ellis was medalist shooting a 34 at the Meridian hosted quad meet at held at Moweaqua Golf Course Aug. 25.

The Arcola-ALAH Golf team won the match with a 168 team goal, beating the Sullivan team’s 172 effort.

Shelbyville was third, shooting a 194 followed by Meridian’s 197.

Clayton Miller from Arcola-ALAH  was runner-up medalist. The remaining winning golf team results: Shandon Herschberger 42, Blake Lindenmeyer 41, Lucas Hutton 56 and Jacob Butler 49. Read More

SOV Cross Country Wins Home Meet

Sullivan Okaw Valley cross country team won the quad meet held at Tabor Park Aug 25.

SOV runners were first with a 54 followed by the ALAH coop in second with a 58. Tuscola was third with 59, Teutopolis finished fourth with 59 and Bement fifth with 67 points.

Poppies to honor those who gave all

On Friday, May 22nd, Ruth Keown, Vice-President of the Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary Unit 68, greeted the public at the entrance to the local Post Office, distributing Memorial Poppies. Each year, millions of Americans wear these Memorial Poppies in memory of American service members who lost their lives in war while serving their country, and to assist those Veterans who are now hospitalized or in rehabilitation, suffering from wounds and illnesses. Memorial Day poppies distributed by the American Legion symbolize the ultimate sacrifice made by service members and are a tribute to those who lost their lives in war. Wearing the poppy is a way to honor the fallen and ensure their bravery is never forgotten.
