Two more conference wins for the Lady Redskins

News Progress Posted on February 12, 2025 by webmasterFebruary 12, 2025

by E. Scott England

The Lady Redskins played two games last week. At the end of the week, they had outscored their two opponents 137-19. The wins moved them to 24-3 (9-0).

The first contest of the week was against Okaw Valley. One could venture a guess that by the end of the first quarter, the game was over. Sullivan didn’t allow OV on the board until the third quarter. And that was just a basket. They would allow just four more points in the fourth quarter for a final score of 75-6. Three Lady Redskins ended up in double digits for points. Aeralyn Thrasher led with 16, while Addison Minor and Emily Miller had 14 and 10, respectively. Thrasher also led in rebounds with seven.

Coming off the high of winning the LPC conference championship, the Lady Redskins wasted no time resuming their regular season dominance. And the play started with a rematch against the Cumberland Pirates.

Cumberland gave Sullivan a run for their money in the conference championship. But Sullivan struggled rebounding and making anything beyond the perimeter. As a team, they agreed they couldn’t let that happen again. So they didn’t. They held the Pirates to just two points in the first quarter and just a single point in the fourth. Addison Stollard led the team in scoring with 13 points. Both Shae Ellis and Aeralyn Thrasher had 10 points. Devon Richardson scored nine while Emily Miller and Nevaeh Dovell had seven and six points, respectively. Miller also led the team in rebounds with 11. Coach Sheri McCain said, “The ladies shot the ball extremely well this time around hitting 10 three pointers on the night.” The Lady Redskins defeated Cumberland by a score of 60-26.

by E. Scott England

After a week-long conference tournament hosted by Okaw Valley, the Lady Redskins prevailed victorious last Saturday night with their third tournament win that earned them the hardware.

The first win of the week came on Monday against Unity Christian. The strong defense really came out in the second quarter as the girls didn’t allow the Lions to score again until the third quarter. They also managed to never allow Unity Christian to score more than eight in a quarter. Shae Ellis exploded for 17 points in that game. Addison Stollard also had a great game with another nine points. Ellis and Stollard also drained two three-pointers each. Mae Dawkins added another three.
