Sullivan Competes at Swim Sectionals
Redskins Basketball Season Closes

The Sullivan boys’ basketball team lost to Newton in the regional quarterfinal game 67-51 to end its season with an overall record of 5-22 and a Central Illinois Conference record of 0-7.
The Redskins also lost to Maroa-Forsyth 53-44 last Tuesday and Tuscola 72-41 on senior night Friday.
Against Meridian, Ian Plank scored a team-high 21 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Sullivan Boys Team Bounces Back for Win

The Sullivan boys’ basketball team lost to powerhouses Central A&M and St. Teresa but bounced back to defeat Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.
Against St. Teresa Friday, Sullivan fell behind early and could not catch up in the 68-24 loss.
For the Redskins, Leyton Ellis scored a team-high six points, and Luke Harlin netted four points to go with two rebounds and two assists.

OVHS Girls Track Competes

The Okaw Valley girls’ track team competed in the Illinois Wesleyan indoor track meet Saturday.
Kaylie Stauder took fifth in the 400-meter run, and Julia Hildebrandt placed sixth in the high jump.
Mad McPheeters placed seventh in the 60-meter dash, and Macie Fleshner placed seventh in the hurdles.
Karlie Stauder placed ninth in the pole vault and in the 400-meter dash.
The Timberwolves next indoor meet is schedule for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Illinois College.
ALAH Boys’ Basketball Team Wins Two Road Games

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond boys’ basketball team won two road games last week against Blue Ridge and Oblong, then lost at home to Arcola Saturday.
Against the Knights of Blue Ridge last Tuesday, ALAH fell behind in the first half 21-19, but came back with a huge 17-5 third-quarter run that put ALAH up 36-26 heading into the fourth quarter.

Central A&M Blocks ALAH Girls’ Team in Regional Action

After knocking off Arcola in a come-from-behind victory, the Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond girls’ basketball team could not overtake Central A&M in the IHSA Class 1A Arthur Regional Thursday night.
In the championship game, the Raiders went on a 12-3 run during the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second to take a 27-21 halftime lead.
The Knights kept the game within ten points for the rest of the third but in the fourth Central A&M eventually pulled away for the 63-39 win.
Mallory Nichols, who advanced to Casey for the Three-Point Contest, recorded 10 points and three rebounds, and Makenzie Brown had six points and six rebounds.
Kailee Otto added seven points, three rebounds and two assists, while Charley Condill contributed four rebounds and four points. Read More
Okaw Valley Boys Team Picks Up Conference Wins

The Okaw Valley boys’ basketball team picked up two more Lincoln Prairie Conference wins to stay undefeated at 8-0 this past week.
The Timberwolves defeated Arcola Friday and Sangamon Valley Saturday.
Against Arcola, the Timberwolves fell behind two points after the first quarter, but in the second quarter, OV outscored Arcola 13-6 for a 23-18 halftime lead.
OV continued the pressure in the third quarter with a 14-9 run.
The Timberwolves held on in the fourth quarter for the 51-40 win. Read More

ALAH Girl’s Basketball Team Travels to Arcola for Win

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond girls’ basketball team split its last two games of the regular season.
The Knight defeated Arcola in a close game on the road Thursday and lost to Marshall on the road Tuesday.
Against the Purple Riders, ALAH nipped Arcola 37-31 in a low scoring but tight game.
The Knights took a 12-8 lead into halftime, but in the second half, the Riders stuck around until the end. Read More
