Okaw Valley Takes Second At Moultrie-Douglas County Meet

A few years ago, the Okaw Valley boy’s cross country team could barely field enough runner to complete a team.
But gradually, the Timberwolves’ teams fielded more runners and became more competitive.
And now, even during a pandemic, Okaw Valley is placing runners in top spots at the larger meets.
The Timberwolves took to the road and competed in the Moultrie-Douglas County Meet at Wimple Park Saturday. Read More

Sullivan Stays Undefeated In Match Play, Loses By Two Strokes

The Sullivan boys’ golf team stayed undefeated in match play with a perfect 15-0 record but lost by two strokes in Olney Golf Invitational.
“I have been very pleased with how the boys have been playing,” said Sullivan coach Ben Richter. “We have six players now all averaging 43 and under which is the best overall team I have ever had. They have been working hard to improve their game all summer despite the limitations imposed because of the pandemic.”
Wednesday, Sept. 9, Sullivan took down Okaw Valley, Shelbyville, and Meridian with a team score of 155.

Three runners from the Sullivan girls’ cross country team competed in the Shelbyville Trails Invitational and Bement High School Bulldog Run.
Shelbyville won its own Trails Invitational with a score of 19, and Clinton placed second with 49 points.
Though Sullivan didn’t have enough runners to field a complete team, sophomore Tori Turnbaugh placed 14th with a time of 22:29.6. Read More

OV Boys Defeat Shelbyville, Mount Pulaski, Place Second In Quadrangular

The Okaw Valley girls’ and boys’ golf teams competed in a home meet this past week.
The boys’ team defeated Shelbyville and Mount Pulaski with help from Trey Hall last Tuesday and placed second in a quadrangular last Wednesday.
Hall earned medalist with a score of 44.
Miles Harlin shot a 45, and Tyson Montgomery scored a 47.
Luke Vanderberg carded a 50, while Seth Webner and Jakob McQuire each shot in 50s. Read More

OV Boys Cross Country Wins Bulldog Run

The Okaw Valley boys’ cross country team won the Bulldog Run Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Bement High School.
The Timberwolves combined for a team total time of 1:36:49 and 31 points..
Argenta-Oreana High School placed second with 51 points, and Sullivan had 63 points for third place.
Three Timberwolves placed in the top five.
Dominic Herold won the Bulldog Run with a time of 18:14.
Clayton Bone took fourth with a time of 18:18, and Ryan Forlines placed fifth at 18:29. Read More

Sullivan Boys Cross Country Places Third

The Sullivan boys’ cross country team competed in the Shelbyville Trails Invitational and the Bement High School Bulldog this past week.
Saturday, Sept. 12, for the boys’ teams, Sullivan placed sixth-out-of-six teams with a score of 158 in the Shelbyville Trails Invitational. St. Anthony won the meet with 36 points, and Shelbyville and Tuscola tied for second placed with 73 points.
Senior Chase McClure placed 24th with a time of 18:45.0 to lead the Redskins. Read More

Sullivan Girl’s Golf Wins Against Central A&M, St. Teresa

The Sullivan High School girls’ golf team had highs and lows this past week.
The Redskins took first in a triangular meet last Tuesday but finished last in a triangular meet Thursday.
Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Redskins traveled to Clinton Country Club to compete against Central A&M and St. Teresa.
Sullivan won both Central Illinois Conference matches with the low score of 218. Read More

Sullivan Boys Golf Remains Undefeated

The Sullivan boys’ varsity golf team stayed undefeated by winning two quadrangular last week.
Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Sullivan Country Club, the Redskins competed with Effingham, Teutopolis and the Sullivan junior varsity team.
Sullivan swept the meet. The Redskins’ varsity team won the quadrangular with a team score of 170, and the Sullivan junior varsity team placed second with a score of 175.
Effingham scored a 185, and Teutopolis finished with a 212. Read More

Though the Sullivan High School girls’ cross country team does not have enough runners to complete a team score, the Redskins’ runners competed in the Charleston Invitational Saturday and hosted five schools at Wyman and Tabor Park last Tuesday.
