he Sullivan boys’ track and field team competed in the Central Illinois Conference meet and the Shelbyville Open last week.
At the Shelbyville Open Saturday, Sullivan placed 14th out of 29 teams.
Four Redskins had top-ten finishes.
Jadon Nuzzo won the pole vault with a height of 14 feet 3 inches.
Brodie Goss took second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.93 and eighth in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.95.
Leighton Burcham long jumped 19 feet 8.5 inches for fifth place and triple jumped 36 feet 8 inches for eighth place.
Ian Plank placed eighth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:57.47. Read More

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond baseball team defeated Sullivan last Tuesday and lost to Decatur LSA in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest division game, Monday.
Against LSA, ALAH had seven hits but could not plate a run in a 1-0 pitchers’ duel.
LSA recorded only two its but scored the winning run in the fourth inning.
Jake Hollingsworth suffered the loss, pitching 2 2/3 innings and giving up one earned run on two hits. He struck out one. Read More

OV Bass Fishermen Win Pins
Okaw Valley High School bass fishermen Isaac Tipsword and Eric Boomer finished fourth and received pins in the Shelbyville Bass Fishing Sectional. Their fourth place finish qualifies them as alternates for the State Series if a top three team is unable to compete. They finished just ounces behind third place.

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond softball team dropped Champaign Central on senior night Monday and Villa Grove in a Little Okaw Valley Conference matchup Friday.
Against the Maroons, the Knights plated five runs in the sixth inning and held on for the 5-1 win.
Against Villa Grove, the Knights had to come from behind late in the game.
Down 2-0, ALAH scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning for the 4-2 win. Read More

Sullivan dropped a Central Illinois Conference game and a non-conference game this past week.
Monday night Tuscola scored eight runs in the third inning to bust the game open 10-0.
Sullivan answered with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, but the Warriors tacked two more on in the bottom of the inning for the eventual 12-2 win in five innings.
Drew Rogers, Dalton Rogers, Kanin Elder and Tim Lawyer each were 1-for-2 at the plate.
Dalton Rogers also scored a run and had two RBIs while Drew Rogers scored a run. Read More

The Sullivan Blue Dolphins Swim Team held their annual 2019 Awards Banquet for the 2018/2019 swim season. North Park Bound
Esther Miller signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball and track at North Park University next year. She signed on Monday May 6 in the Sullivan High School gym before classmates and family.

The Sullivan girls’ track and field team placed fifth with 78 points in the Central Illinois Conference meet at Meridian High School last Thursday.
Esther Miller earned an all-conference honor with her first place triple jump of 34 feet 7 inches.
Miller also placed second in the 400 meter at 1:04.13 and fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.36.
Several other Redskins also scored points.
Katherine Kite took third in the 800 meter and 1,600 meter with times of 2:39.85 and 5:47.80, respectively. Read More

In another busy week, the Okaw Valley baseball team played four games in five days.
The Timberwolves defeated Arcola and Argenta-Oreana but lost to Decatur Lutheran and Paris.
Monday evening at Argenta-Oreana, OV needed an extra inning to plate the eventual winning run in an 8-inning pitcher’s duel.
In the top of the eighth inning, freshman Cale Roley singled in the winning run, and Dalton McGill pitched a 5-hit complete-game shutout and struck out 10 batters for the win.
McGill and Eli Hagerman each recorded a hit.
Saturday against Paris, OV could not overcome a Tiger 5-run fourth inning and eventually lost 7-3. Read More
