The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond baseball team swept two home games against Cerro Gordo/Bement, Monday.
In the first game of the doubleheader, after a scoreless first four innings, the Broncos plated a run in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead.
The Knights answered in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runs to return the favor.
Lucas Otto pitched seven innings for the win. He gave up one earned run on nine hits and two walks. He struck out 15. Read More

Sullivan senior Caden Ellis recorded a hole-in-one during the first round of the Prep Tour Ironwood Classic.
Ellis struck the shot on the 16th hole in rainy and windy conditions at Ironwood Golf Course.
Ellis went on to win the 2-day event.
For the Redskins in the fall, Ellis earned all-state honors with a tie for third place with a score of 76, earned first-team all-area honors.
He was medalist in the regional and sectional titles and finished with a 35.7 nine-hole average.

The Sullivan softball team lost two games last week but bounced back Saturday to defeat Okaw Valley 6-5 with a walk-off fielder’s choice by Alexis Britton in extra innings.
Against OV, Sullivan fell behind 3-0 in the first inning when Madison Vogel tripled in two of the team’s three first-inning runs.
Sullivan tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the second inning when Katie Honchell, Irie Dulin and Caprice Smith each drove in runs.
OV took the lead again in the third with a run and added to that lead with another run in the fifth inning.
Sullivan scored again in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 5-4, and in the seventh inning Smith recorded another RBI to send the game into extra innings. Read More

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond baseball team throttled Arcola 14-0 Friday then tied Altamont 2-2 in a 12-inning game Monday.
Against Altamont the Knights scored two runs in the first inning, and Altamont scored its two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game.

The Okaw Valley baseball team dropped two-of-three games last week.
The Timberwolves lost to Decatur Lutheran and Sullivan in pitchers’ duels and blew out Cerro Gordo/Bement 14-1.
Against Cerro Gordo/Bement Friday, OV’s offensive exploded in two innings, scoring six runs in the first and seven runs in the third.
The Timberwolves tacked on another run in the fourth for the win in five innings.
OV pounded out 13 hits. Read More

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond softball team no-hit Blue Ridge in back-to-back blowout games last Wednesday then knocked off Arcola Friday to clinch the Little Okaw Valley Northwest Conference championship.
Friday against the Riders, ALAH scored a run in the first two innings, but Arcola cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the third.
The Knights scored two runs in the fourth inning, one run in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth to take control for the 7-2 win.
Marissa Herschberger was two-for-three with three runs scored, and Reagan Miller was one-for-three with two runs scored.
Makenzie Brown went one-for-three with two RBIs, and Molly Day knocked in a run and scored two runs.
Rylie Kauffman also knocked in a run.
In the circle, Shelby Frederick (10-2) got the win. She pitched four innings and allowed one run on five hits and one walk. She struck out four. Read More
