The Sullivan boys’ track team have had an amazing year. Records have been broken, then re-broken as they continue to push each other. It was no surprise then that at the end of the sectional meet last Wednesday that the team qualified in 10 of the 18 events. In each event, the top two finishers get to advance. All other athletes can advance if they meet the state qualifying standard for that event.

Brett Bushue became one of the first qualifiers as he advanced in both pole vault and high jump. The senior easily advanced to state in high jump as he finished second with a jump of 1.88m. He had narrowly escaped elimination at the 1.85m mark, but cleared it in his third and final attempt. He cleared the 1.88m height in the first jump. Bushue would go on to finish fourth in pole vault, but cleared the qualifying standard of 3.70m to earn his second invite to state. Read More

The Sullivan boys’ track team had two meets last week in what was their final regular meets of the season. The first one was a smaller meet held in Sullivan last Tuesday. They traveled to Decatur for the second annual St. Teresa Invite.

Last Tuesday was the Sullivan Triangular. Two other teams - Meridian and Monticello - joined Sullivan for the small meet. It is a fun meet for Sullivan as they often shift around the event participants to give athletes the opportunities to try other events they normally wouldn’t do.  Read More

Seeley signs on to continue volleyball career with Lakers
Middle hitter Tessa Seeley signed last week to attend and play volleyball at Lake Land College next year. Seeley joined the varsity squad full time her sophomore year. Over those three years she accumulated over 350 kills. She also racked up close to a hundred blocks.
The Lakers are returning all but four players from last year. The team was 13-18 overall and 6-10 in their conference. Head coach Lainey Jackson looks to have a competitive team with the experience of returning players and the addition of key recruits.
