OVHS Boys’ Golf Qualifies for Sectionals

For the second straight year, the Okaw Valley boys’ golf team qualified for the sectional meet.
To qualify, the Timberwolves scored a combined 374 for third place in the Windsor Regional at Fox Prairie Golf Course last Tuesday.
Sullivan won the meet with a score of 319, followed by Farmer City’s 364. All three teams advanced.

Good Defense Not Enough for SHS Volleyball Team

The Sullivan volleyball team suffered two more losses this past week.
The Redskins lost a Central Illinois Conference match to Central A&M Thursday at Moweaqua and a non-conference match Against Neoga last Monday.

OVHS Volleyball is Ready for Regionals

The Okaw Valley volleyball team dropped a nonconference game against Arthur Christian Monday night.
OV lost the first set 25-15 but battled back to win the second set 25-22.
Arthur Christian took the third set 25-20 and the match.
For OV, Sadie Zimmerman had 10 digs and 21 assists, and Paige Coleman totaled three blocks, 17 digs and eight kills. Read More

OV Volleyball Team Captures Conference

The Okaw Valley volleyball team defeated Arcola in the Little Okaw Valley Conference Consolation Championship Monday night.
OV started the tournament with a loss to Argenta-Oreana Saturday morning but bounced back Monday to defeat Arcola in straight sets.
The Timberwolves won 25-20, 25-15 over the Purple Riders.
Kate Jeffers had 14 kills and two digs, and Paige Coleman had 12 kills and eight digs. Read More

Redskins Golfers Roll on Through as Conference Champs

Not only has the Sullivan boys’ golf team finished the season with an undefeated 21-0 record but the Redskins also rolled right through the Central Illinois Conference meet at Ironhorse Golf Course in Tuscola last Tuesday.
“We have been conference champs three-out-of-four years and with our current roster we should see that continue for the next few years,” said Sullivan coach Ben Richter
In the second year in a row as CIC champions, four Redskins earned all-conference honors and placed golfers in each spot from second to sixth.
The Redskins combined team score was 317.
Caden Ellis finished second with a score of 77, and Leyton Ellis followed in third with a 78. Read More

WSS Volleyball Keeps Winning

The Windsor-Stewardson-Strasburg volleyball stayed undefeated at 6-0 in the National Trail Conference winning over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City last Tuesday.
WSS won in straight sets, 25-12, 25-4.
Megan Schlechte collected eight kills, two aces and two digs, and Mackenzi Tabbert had four aces, six digs and 19 assists. Read More

Knights Volleyball Team Knocks Down Four Wins for the Week

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond volleyball team won its eighth straight match this weekend to improve its record to 16-6 overall and 4-1 in the Little Okaw Valley Conference.
The Knights knocked off four teams this past week alone.
ALAH defeated Bement last Tuesday, Argenta-Oreana Thursday, Blue Ridge and Sangamon Valley/Tri-City in the LOVC tournament Saturday.
In the LOVC tournament at Argenta Saturday, ALAH knocked off Sangamon Valley/Tri-City in straight sets, 25-7, 25-18.
Taylor Powell finished with three aces, five kills and eight digs, and Kara Yoder had two aces, two kills and three digs.
Marissa Herschberger dished out 12 assists, and Makenzie Brown hit four kills.
In the second game of the LOVC tournament, ALAH defeated Blue Ridge 25-22, 25-14.
Powell totaled a game-high 14 kills and 13 digs, and Yoder finished with six kills and six digs. Read More

Tough Night in Tuscola for SOV Football

The Sullivan-Okaw Valley football team dropped its sixth straight game of the year in a 61-0 loss to the Warriors at Tuscola Friday night.
Tuscola made sure they had a happy homecoming by scoring 28 points in the first quarter, including a fumble recover in the end zone, and taking a 38-0 lead at halftime.
For SOV senior quarterback Cameron Kesterson was 8-for-12 passing for 72 yards, and he ran the ball 12 times for 40 yards.
Senior Cullen Dyer ran the ball 21 times for 50 yards, and junior Eric Boomer ran the ball once for 10 yards.

Sophomore Ian Plank caught five passes for 42 yards, and Dillion Wallace had 30 yards receiving on two catches.
Defensively, sophomore Terrence McRill collected a team-high seven total tackles, and senior Leman Jones had four total tackles and a sack.
Sophomore Dominick Kimberlin, sophomore Luke Vander Burgh, senior Jon Mathias and Dyer each had three total tackles.

SOV will look for its first win of the year during Sullivan’s homecoming at Victory Field against St. Teresa Friday.

Girls’ Golfers Earn All-Conference Honors

Three Sullivan female golf players earned all-Central Illinois Conference honors at Ironhorse Golf Course in Tuscola last Tuesday.
The Redskins shot a combined team score of 412.
Addison Darush, Alexis Britton, and Esther Miller were all-conference selections.
Darush and Britton each shot a 94 to tie for second place, and Esther Miller carded a 107 for fifth place.
In addition, Irie Dulin shot a 117, Erin Wallace a 122 and Alyssa Shriver a 131.
Sullivan is scheduled to enter the Charleston Class 1A Regional this week.

OV Golf Team Plays at St. Elmo

The Okaw Valley boys’ golf team lost a dual meet against Altamont 181-190 at the St. Elmo Golf Club Thursday.
Case Crawford and Altamont’s Grant Schmidt were co-medalists with a low of 41.
For OV, Beau Atchison and Addison Webner each shot a 46.
The OV golf team is scheduled to enter the Windsor Class 1A Regional this week.
