Chase Eller, 17, of Sullivan, was recently awarded the American Red Cross’ Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action for helping a choking child at a Decatur restaurant in January 2021. Established in 1911, the national Lifesaving Awards are issued by American Red Cross headquarters in Washington, D.C. to highlight whenever lifesaving skills are used.
Dawn Morris, South-Central Executive Director of the Illinois Region of the American Red Cross, presented the award to Chase during the August 10 virtual Red Cross South Central Illinois Chapter Board of Directors meeting.     Login or Subscribe to read the rest of this story.
