The Timberwolves opened their season Monday at the 17th annual Edinburg Wildcat Turkey Classic and came out with a 61-44 win overly Waverly.
Peyton Hagerman and Devon Still led the team, combining for over half the team’s points (45). Hagerman downed five 3-pointers on his way to a 27 point night, while Still’s eight field goals and two free throws earned him 18. Still also had a team high of 13 rebounds and six steals.
Head coach Tony Sparks says he was most impressed with his team’s ability to move the ball and find the open man.
“We got in foul trouble early and had several young kids step in and play good minutes for us,” added Sparks. “We made some defensive adjustments early that took them out of their offensive plan. They never adjusted.”
OV faced Kincaid South Fork Tuesday evening and fell 50-64. OV will finish out the tournament, playing Morrisonville Friday at 4:30 p.m., followed by Sangamon Valley Saturday at 3 p.m. and host Edinburg Monday at 8 p.m.
