After a second quarter scoring draught and a Bronco kickoff return for a touchdown to open the third, Friday night’s conference contest wasn’t looking good for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond. But somehow, the Knights dug in and climbed out of the hole to win narrowly 27-26.
While the Knights started the scoring off with a Steven Wright 10-yard rushing touchdown just 7:54 into the first quarter, ALAH was held scoreless the rest of the half. Meanwhile, the Broncos immediately responded with an 8-play series that ended with a 40-yard touchdown reception. The Knights ensuing possession ended just four plays in when quarterback Tyler Schuring’s pass was intercepted. The Broncos would eventually capitalize, though first converting on a big 4-and-1 on the Knights’ 25-yard line. With the 2-point conversion, Cerro-Gordo/Bement took a 14-6 lead, and would then force back-to-back ALAH punts.
