Tuesday, September 27th, I had the privilege of accompanying my father, Don from Lovington, on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight out to see the Memorials in Washington, D.C.
When we arrived at the airport in Springfield, I started running into people that I know. On the flight with us were Terry Muzzy of Bethany along with Mark Conlin, Mac Bond and Roger Davis of Sullivan. The crew got us all checked in with our t-shirts, hats and name tags, served breakfast and then we boarded the plane to start our journey.
After landing, we were transported by bus to the WWII, Vietnam, Korean and Lincoln Memorials. Seeing the war memorials were very emotional moments for many of the veterans on the flight and it was an honor to be there with these heroes.
