No date on this photo of the old Wyman Park bandstand but it appears to be soon after it opened on August 6, 1916. The first concert was held on that date by the Boys Band. The steps were removable so that children would not climb on them and people could not litter the floor. It was totally constructed of concrete except for the steel poles that were used to hold the canvas awning. It was located on the south side of the park in the current parking lot of the Civic center and American Legion Hall. Please submit photos to the News Progress for future consideration. Originals will be saved for return or forwarded to Moultrie County Historical Society. If you have any other information, please contact the Moultrie County Historical Society at 217-728- 4085.
