Pictured above is the north side of square in Sullivan in1881. The far left 3-story building is theTitus Opera House. The second floor corner office is John R. Eden Law Office. The first floor corner is a general store. Standing in front of the stairs to the Opera room and next to his new sewing machine is G.O. Andrews, a tailor. Next is L.M. Spitler and his son. Occupying the Vadakin “Drugs” building was Mose Ansbacher, men’s clothing. Where TNT is today was occupied by the “Journal” newspaper. Harry J. Pike, Jeweler occupied one of the small wooden buildings, and Dr. Lewis was located in the end building. Photo taken by A.S. Creech and is oldest known photo of that side of square.
