Sullivan never trailed against Okaw Valley in their non-conference meeting last Thursday in Bethany, which had a turnover in the style of play compared to their first game against Teutopolis.
By the end of the first quarter Sullivan forced more turnovers (11) than they did the whole game Monday (eight). Junior Emily Neuhauser and senior Maggie Plank each accounted for three steals in the first quarter.
“Our effort was greatly improved from Monday,” Redskins head coach Sheri McCain stated. “The girls came out ready tonight. I don’t know if they were quite ready for T-town, but we turned it up a notch on defense tonight. We wanted to start with our press and get some deflections. The whole goal was to get easy buckets and get out ahead, and they did a fabulous job.”
