The sixth annual Chet Kingery Memorial Bluegrass Festival, hosted by Mackville Bluegrass, will return to The Great Pumpkin Patch in Arthur Saturday, September 1. Bands will be picking from noon to 10 p.m.
The festival line-up features IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year nominee and most-awarded winner, Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out, as well as the 2016 IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year, Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass. Back by popular demand, The Harmans will perform once again this year. Rounding out the schedule are Cornfields and Crossroads from Indianapolis and host band and local favorite, Mackville. OV Athletic Facilities Under Construction
The Okaw Valley CUSD #302 began construction on the $1.5 million athletic facilities upgrade at the high school last weeks.
Demolition of the current baseball field has started, and preparations to replace the gravel track with asphalt paving have begun and should be finished sometime this week.
The construction is scheduled to be finished for the 2019 spring sports season.
Included in the new facilities will be an 8-lane synthetic all-weather track, a new softball field for middle school and high school teams and a new baseball field with a synthetic turf infield.
On July 19, the OV School Board approved the use of an existing district fund balance to construct the facility.
DMH Sullivan Medical Central Receives CARF Accreditation

Decatur Memorial Hospital’s outpatient medical rehabilitation program has again attained the highest level of accreditation available by the International Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
CARF’s three-year accreditation includes a rigorous on-site peer review process for treatment of single discipline adults, single discipline children/adolescents, multi-discipline adults, and multi-discipline children/adolescents.
These DMH outpatient rehabilitation facilities were surveyed and accredited: DMH Rehabilitation Center, Forsyth Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, East Gate Physical Therapy , Sullivan Medical Center. Read More

As students from pre-kindergarten to college prepare to head back to school, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and local emergency management agencies across the state are reminding educators about the recent recommendations of the Illinois Terrorism Task Force School Safety Working Group. The group’s 13 recommendations are designed to help make Illinois schools safer. These recommendations were presented to Governor Bruce Rauner in May 2018, and are available online for the public to review. Read More

There are several spam emails coming through the Moultrie County courthouse computers, County Clerk Georgia England reported, noting three computers were affected by Monday.
They may say Statement of Account, Invoice, Unpaid Invoice, etc. Be aware of emails that you open.

Delays on Hwy 121 at West Okaw River

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that road work began Monday, Aug. 6, on Illinois 121. Work includes pavement patching, milling, hot-mix asphalt, and pavement markings from 0.4 miles west to 0.4 miles east of the West Okaw River. This project is expected to be completed by Sept. 1.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Read More
