Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Secretary Bryan A. Schneider was recently appointed to the Non-Depository Supervisory Committee of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS). The newly created committee will provide oversight of and support for multi-state, non-depository supervisory matters and provide advice on non-depository policy development. Non-depository financial institutions serve as an intermediary between savers and borrowers, but do not accept time deposits. In Illinois, IDFPR Division of Banking oversees the regulation and licensure of non-depository financial institutions, such as mortgage banks, payday loans, pawnbrokers and title loan companies.

“With his extensive regulatory and financial background, Secretary Schneider will be invaluable as a member of this national committee,” said Governor Bruce Rauner. “By serving in this capacity, Secretary Schneider ensures Illinois has effective representation in shaping national regulatory policies that impact the financial services that the people of our state depend upon.” Read More

The 2016 Miss, Jr. Miss and little Miss Lovington Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 19 in the Lovington Grade School gym.

This year’s pageant has three Miss, four Jr. Miss and five Little Miss contestants.

The competition includes a four minute interview that will take place in the afternoon; on stage introductions, pop question, a speech and formal wear.

This year there will be a People’s Choice Award, where anyone may vote for their favorite contestant at the pageant.

A 50/50 raffle is this year’s fundraiser which will be sold at the pageant or by all of the contestants prior to the pageant.

Cinderella – The Ballet will be performed in Kirkland Fine Arts Center at Millikin University at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12. The Minnesota Ballet brings to life this favorite fairy tale set in the lush world of Renaissance Tuscany. Cinderella’s life is difficult enough with all the work she is expected to do, and her stepmother means very well, but, oh, those stepsisters. They have all the gawkiness and evil tricks, but Cinderella has all the grace and sweetness. Read More

Cardiologist Thomas Cahill, MD, recently became a “Diplomate of the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology” after passing the recertification examination in December.

Dr. Cahill provides cardiology care for people at Sarah Bush Lincoln through the Prairie Heart Institute partnership. He has more than 33 years’ experience in the management of all acute and chronic cardiac conditions.

Dr. Cahill earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine where he also completed an internship, residency and fellowship in cardiology. Passionate about providing top quality care, “Cardiology is an amazing field that is constantly advancing and new solutions are being found everyday to fight heart disease. Problems that once couldn’t be treated are now treatable and often curable,” he said.

Leah Hale Dolan, 32 years old, wife of Aaron, mother of Isabel, and daughter-in-law of Pastor Dave and Debbie Dolan, was diagnosed with stage-four cancer.

It has been found in her breast and lesions found on parts of her spine and pelvis. She is receiving chemotherapy treatment at Cancer Center of America in Zion, Ill. A benefit for Leah is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, at New Life Church. Pastor Paul G.
