Sarah Cares for Her Father

When Sarah’s father, Jim, was diagnosed with cancer, she didn’t think twice about stepping in as his primary caregiver. At first, it was manageable. She took Jim to his medical appointments, helped with groceries, and ensured he took his medications. Today, as his condition progresses, Sarah finds herself overwhelmed.

The stress of balancing her part-time job, family, and her father’s increasing needs leaves her exhausted. She feels guilty for feeling frustrated, yet she doesn’t know how or where to ask for help.

The Lake Shelbyville Fish Habitat Alliance will hold a fundraising banquet at the Sullivan VFW located at 1132 IL 32, Sullivan, IL 61951 on February 22, 2025, to raise funds for continuing fish habitat improvements in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Illinois Natural History Survey and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources at Lake Shelbyville. The Alliance has garnered national recognition for its innovative improvements to the lake. All proceeds from the banquet will go towards Lake Shelbyville fish habitat improvements.

Checking on your neighbor when severe weather threatens is more than a kind gesture. It’s a crucial step toward protecting those in need. When enough individuals accept this responsibility, we help foster community resilience. This leads us to address three essential questions.
