Delbert Buxton Dick, 92, of Windsor, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 9 a.m. December 6, 2015 in St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by family members.
Delbert was born January 8, 1923 on the family farm near Pierson, Ill. to W. E. and Bertha Buxton Dick. He married Evelyn Moody in 1947 in Arthur. Delbert and Evelyn had two children before Evelyn passed away from polio in 1953. He married Charlene Haws in 1963, and she preceded him in death.
Delbert owned a photography business in Arthur for several years and later was employed by Philes Camera Shop in Decatur before moving to the Windsor area to begin a 50+ year farming operation. When his farm was taken over by the Federal Government to become Wolf Creek State Park and Lake Shelbyville, he bought a farm near Sullivan and continued farming; later he returned to the Windsor area to live and farm near the Wolf Creek State Park that was so dear to him.
