Sam Burtcheard

Sampson “Sam” D. Burtcheard, 79, lifelong resident of Sullivan, passed away at 6:30 p.m. March 3 with his wife by his side, ending a long struggler with Alzheimer’s.

Sam was born June 27, 1936 in Moultrie County, only child of Lilly Burtcheard. He retired from Bridgestone Firestone in Decatur. He married Carl Bailey Adams September 22, 1984. He was a die-hard Cub fan and any other sports that happened to be on TV. He spent his retirement years pursuing his lifelong passion….catfishing.
