Judson J. ‘Jud’ Cameron, 84, of Sullivan, passed away at 3:53 a.m. Friday December 11, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jud was born June 15, 1936 in Highland Park, Illinois, the son of Judson Eugene and Emma Spitzer Cameron. He attended Newton Community High School and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with his bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in administration. He also attained a specialist degree from Eastern Illinois University. Jud had been employed by the Sullivan School District for thirty-three years as a social studies teacher and football coach. He was a member of the Illinois Teenage Institute on Substance Abuse. Jud was an IHSA track official for over 35 years. He worked at Sullivan Ace Hardware for over 25 years. A U.S. Army Veteran, he was an active 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus. Jud married the love of his life, Sandra Bork, on August 19, 1961. During Jud’s 59 years in Sullivan, he dedicated his time to his family and the development of Sullivan schools and sports. He helped develop the Saturday basketball program for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Jud’s pride and joy were his grandkids, as he was their biggest fan. If Jud wasn’t at the starting line, he was always in the bleachers cheering them on.
Surviving are his wife Sandy of Sullivan; daughter Amy (Ken Behl) Cameron of Springfield; sons Todd (Heather) Cameron of Denver, Colorado, Kurt (Kristy) Cameron of Chatham; brothers Richard (Millie) Cameron of Glenwood, Illinois, Philip (Mitsuko) Cameron of Roseville, California, and Michael (Leslie) Cameron of Marshall; sister Margaret (Rick) Cochran of Wheeler; grandchildren Jacob and Laine and four step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, December 15th at St. Columcille Catholic Church, Sullivan. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Reed Funeral Home Sullivan with Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m. Monday, December 14th. Rite of Committal and Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery. The family requests that everyone practice social distancing and wear face masks for the visitation and funeral mass.

Jud will forever be remembered as a faithful husband, brother, dad, grandpa, friend, coach, teacher, and devoted member of the parish.

Ivan LaMarre Moon
Ivan LaMarre Moon, 83, of Bethany, passed away, Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, with his wife by his side.
Ivan was born April 10, 1937, in Dora Township, Moultrie County, IL, the son of Carl R. and Bertha Viola Moon. He married Carolyn Sue Poole on June 5, 1960, in Bethany, IL. Ivan worked 55 years for area John Deere stores including F.H. Bland and Sons, Bethany, Patterson-Tice and Sloan Implement, Shelbyville. He was well-known in the farming community as a skilled, dependable mechanic who kept John Deere equipment running efficiently. He loved working outdoors mowing several yards in the community for many years.
Ivan leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Sue at home; children, Timothy (Karen) Moon of Bethany, Kelly (Dan) Robinson and Kathy (Gary) Crowe of Sullivan and Tony (Lisa) Moon of Trenton, IL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and a daughter-in-law, Allison Moon.
Ivan was a hard-working, quiet man of few words who will be missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Bethany. Visitation will be held one hour before the services. Face masks are suggested and please practice social distancing for the services. Burial will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany. Memorials may be made to the Dalton City Christian Church, Marrowbone Public Library or donor’s choice.
