Margaret F. Koehnke, 94, of Sullivan, passed away 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in Mason Point, Sullivan.

Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Glenn Strohschein officiating. Burial will be in the Moultrie County Memorial Park, Bethany. Vistiation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested to the Faith Lutheran Church, Sullivan or to Moultrie County PAWS. Online condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Mrs. Koehnke was born October 27, 1925 in Moultrie County, Illinois, the daughter of Robert L. and Dorothy B. Crouch Matheson. Margaret was a homemaker. She had also worked at Brown Shoe Company in Sullivan and at the Bennett School in Mattoon. Margaret had been a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mattoon and had attended the Faith Lutheran Church in Sullivan. She married Erwin C. Koehnke on February 1, 1952 in Sullivan and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1976.

Survivors include her sisters Dorothy Craig of Sullivan and Emogene Burrows of Sullivan; brother Dale Matheson of Tuscon, Arizona and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

F. Paul Romano, 97, of Decatur, formerly of Sullivan, passed away December 28, 2019, in St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Visitation and mass were at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Decatur followed by Mass with burial in Marrowbone Twp. Cemetery.
Paul was born September 23, 1922, in Decatur to Rocco and Domenica Romano, immigrants of Tricarico, Italy, in 1914. He shared their story at every opportunity. Paul was married to Adelyn Ekiss of Decatur in 1955; their daughter Vicki (Chuck) Schroeder lives in Sequim, Washington; Adelyn died in 1974. He married Dorothy Freeman of Sullivan in 1986 and became a devoted stepfather to Barry (Janet) Freeman and Larry (Janet) Freeman and joyful grandfather to Terri (Darren) Via and their three children. Francis F. Fedie, 86, of Decatur passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in his home with his loving family at his side.
Francis was born March 3, 1933, in Durand, Wisc., a son of Henry and Annabelle (Komro) Fedie. A U.S. Army veteran, Francis was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Lovington American Legion Post #429 and retired from the B&O Railroad in 2001 where he worked as a brakeman. Alice V. Calhoun Jones, 84, of Bethany, passed away 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur.

Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Faith Lutheran Church, Sullivan, with Pastor Glenn Strohschein officiating assisted by Jerry Jones. Burial will be in Marrowbone Twp. Cemetery, Bethany. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Reed Funeral Home and one hour before the services Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Faith Lutheran Church, Sullivan. Online condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net

Mrs. Jones was born September 9, 1935 in Altamont, IL, the daughter of Edward Wilhelm and Edna Anna Koss Campe. Alice was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sullivan Faith Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the Ladies Friendship Guild. She also attended the First General Baptist Church in Decatur. Alice married John W. Calhoun on March 3, 1954 at Altamont, and he preceded her in death on August 7, 2001. She married Vernie Jones on May 15, 2004 at Decatur, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2019.

Survivors include her sons Rick Calhoun of Decatur, Monte Calhoun of Decatur, James (Kona) Jones of Argenta and Jerry (LaWanda) Jones of Qingdao, China; daughters Donna Gerber of Lewisville, TX, Leann (Randy) Tolan of Springfield, IL, and Joanna (Tom) Price of Hendersonville, TN; twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren; sisters Esther Magnus of St. Peter, IL, Lorene Schroeder of Altamont, Belva Shafer of St. Peter, IL, and Norma Campe of Altamont.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, daughter Teri Calhoun, great- granddaughter Karis Glass, brothers Harold, Delbert and Eldon Campe.

The Moultrie-Douglas County Fair Pageant will be held Monday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. for Little Miss Fair Queen and 7:00 p.m. for Miss and Junior Miss Fair Queen located at the south track on the Mo-Do Fairgrounds. Vying for the title of Miss Moultrie Douglas Fair Queen are: Abigail Meyer of Tuscola, Addee Mulligan of Arcola, Sarah Rogers of Atwood, Ava Whitson of Tuscola, Addisyn Wilson of Villa Grove, Emma Spillman of Tuscola, Aymara Leal of Arcola and Katilyn Kirby of Sullivan.
