Kathryn M. Hutchcraft

Kathryn M. Hutchcraft, 87, of Sullivan, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Thursday March 29, 2018 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Kathryn was born August 3, 1930 in Ewing, Illinois the daughter of James Howard and Eva Wyrick Richardson. She had worked at the Brown Shoe Company, Dean’s Geeenhouse and Elzy’s Florist in Sullivan. She was a member of the Sullivan First Christian Church. Previously she had been very involved in church activities at the Sullivan Church of God and enjoyed southern gospel music. Kathryn married Paul Hutchcraft on September 3, 1948 in Mt. Vernon and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2013.

Surviving are her daughters Nancy (Rick) Cundiff of Bloomington and Sherry (William) Lewis of Richmond, Indiana; brother Kenneth Ray Richardson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister Una Kay Hayes of Benton; grandchildren Randy Tomera of Bloomington, Jacob (Allison) Lewis of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Aaron (Jessica) Lewis of Richmond, Indiana; step grandchildren Carrie (Mike) Lee of Normal, Maggie (Paul) Miquel of Kissimmee, Florida, Kellie Cundiff of Santa Monica, California and step great grandchildren Abbie Lee, Katie Lee and Benjamin Lee all of Normal.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Robert G. Dotson, 66, of Sullivan passed away 10:55 p.m. March 28, 2018 at Eastview Terrace, Sullivan.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 at Mt. Zion General Baptist Cemetery, Coles Station. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Robert was born November 17, 1951 in Sullivan, the son of Warner G. and Juanita (England) Dotson. He was retired from Bridgestone-Firestone, Decatur. He was an excellent mechanic and welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying remote-controlled airplanes. He was a loving grandfather and his granddaughters were his pride and joy.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Dianna (Eric) Davis of Evans, GA; sisters, Jill (Mike) Getz of Leesburg, FL; Jane (Glenn) Lehman-Menke of Sullivan; Sheryl (Terry) Wood of Sullivan and Lisa White of Sullivan; granddaughters, Abigail and Chloe Davis, and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Helen I. Moynahan, 86, died Friday, March 23, 2018 peacefully in her sleep in her home in Noblesville, Ind.

Thomas E. Starr, 64, of Sullivan, passed away 2:26 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Thomas was born April 17, 1953 in Suffern, NY, the son of Stanley and Carlotta (Lissi) Starr. He married Vicky F. Russell in 1972 in Sullivan; she survives. He graduated from Sparks Business College at the head of his class. Thomas liked music and playing different types of instruments. He also enjoyed raising birds and cactuses.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky of Sullivan; daughter, Alison (Bob) Cox of Owatonna, MN; brother, Stan Starr of Sullivan; grandchildren, Ryan, Jayson and Carlitta.  

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Roy and Bob.

Michael E. Booker, 67, of Sullivan, IL, formerly of New Port Richey Fl, passed away Thursday, March 22nd, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center surrounded by his loving family. 

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. The family request casual attire. Memorials may be made to the Monticello Railroad Museum.

Mike was born March 7th, 1951, the oldest son of Virgil E. and Carlin Jo (Manship) Booker. He was a member of the Sullivan High School class of 1969. He was a proud alumni of Lake Land College, Western Illinois University, and Sangamon State. He was a member of the Governor Board of Elections, chairman of the Moultrie County Democratic Association, Surface Navy Association, and West Pasco County Model Railroading Association. He was a candidate for the 102nd House of Representatives. He enjoyed fishing and model railroading, photography, WWII reenacting, and keeping everyone up to date on the weather. He was a staunch fan of the Fighting Illini Football, the Green Bay Packers and the Cards. He cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 
One of his favorite jobs was working with his cherished friend, Doug, in his landscaping business. 

Mike is survived by his daughter, Jamie Lynn Booker and friend, Clayton Pforr, of Sullivan, son, John Booker and wife Brittany, of Pekin, Ill, and grandchildren Brooklyn, Roman, Memphis, Mason, Lukas, and Emily, and best buddies Rick and Jeri Davis. 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joey Lynn, and his beloved Aunt Mable. After 40 years, he finally can hot rod with his little brother.

Mike's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of SBLHC, especially Dr. Curtis Green, and nurses Hannah and Drew for their compassionate care to our family and Mike.

On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
