Gynith Georgia Patterson

Gynith Georgia Patterson, 101, of Sullivan, passed away at 9:24 p.m. Thursday July 27, 2017 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon

Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be 1 - 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Lower Ash Grove Cemetery, Strasburg. Memorials are suggested to the Titus Manor, Sullivan. Online condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Gynith was born January 15, 1916 in Findlay the daughter of Ira Roger and Sarah Elizabeth Ringo Mayberry. She was a member of the Stewardson Seventh Day Adventist Church. She married Benjamin Patterson on Jan 20, 1938 and he preceded her in death May, 1969.

Surviving are her granddaughters Kathy Patterson of Decatur, Bianca Webb of Sullivan, Georgia (Tom) Miller of Babylon, New York, Novalena (Leroy) Harrington of Mattoon, Angela (Shawn) Patterson of Neoga; grandson Greg (Lisa) Patterson of Mattoon; daughter-in-law Mary Ann (Kenny) Anderson of Mattoon; ten great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren and a great great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, sister, two sons, a grandson and a grandson-in-law.

On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
