Audrey Mae Bolsen, 81, of Decatur passed away at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial was in Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany.

Audrey was born July 22, 1935 in Decatur, a daughter of Donald A. and Nora N. Daniels Carter. She married Robert Lawrence Bolsen June 22, 1973, and he preceded her in death May 12, 1999. Read More

Dale Robert Park, 85, of Findlay passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born September 28, 1931 in Shelby County, a son of John and Wilma Summers Park. He married Norma Jones June 30, 1956, and she passed away November 29, 2009. Dale was a lifelong farmer, a member of Findlay American Legion Clarence Bixler Post 409 for 62 years, Todd’s Point Road commissioner for four years and a veteran of the United States Army. When not working the fields, Dale could be found patrolling Findlay on his golf cart, collecting antique tractors or spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored.   Read More

Evelyn “Effie” Warren Simonson, 91, formerly of Columbus, Indiana, passed away December 3, 2016, in Mason Point in Sullivan.  She was born March 2, 1925, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Forrest C. and Dolly M. Powell.  She was preceded in death by her husband Robert D. Warren of San Antonio, Texas and Chester A. Simonson of Columbus, Indiana. A daughter, Vicki Warren Washburn of Seabrook Island, South Carolina preceded her in death April 5, 2016.

Survivors include daughter Dianne Warren Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia; son Steven Robert Warren of Murray, Kentucky; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Read More

Celebration of Life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Don Lusk and Pastor Fred Hauck officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today  (Wednesday). Jim was born May 9, 1955 to James Carviel Hale, Sr. and Virginia Nichols Hale in Decatur. He married Becky Tice October 24, 2002 in Shelby County. He retired from Norfolk and Western Railway Decatur. Jim attended school in Windsor.   Read More

On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
