Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Lawrence “Larry” Keyes Wacaser, 77, died peacefully October 16, 2014, in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Penn.  Five days earlier, he suffered anoxic brain damage from cardiac arrest which resulted from tragically choking on food.

McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan is coordinating Dr. Wacaser's memorial service at the Lovington United Methodist Church at 241 S. Broadway in Lovington at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 7 with visitation also at the church at 1p.m. Burial will be in Hewitt Cemetery in Lovington.

Kerrie Sims, affectionately known as “Gwa”, “Momma Kerrie” and “Kerr Bear” (to name only a few of her endearing nicknames), originally of Atwood, Illinois and most recently of Troy, Missouri, passed peacefully at the age of 61 amongst family Friday, November 28, 2014.

Memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2014 in Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36 in Atwood. The family will have a toast in Kerrie’s memory at Mona’s Steak & Spirits, 114 North Main Street in Atwood following the visitation.

She died at 11:55 p.m. November 20, 2014 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Boo was born July 11, 2000 in Centralia, a daughter of Troy Allen Yokley and Carla Fay Crain Yokley. She was a member of Brown Christian Church Meacham Township. Boo loved her family, friends and music.

On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
