Rochelle Ellen Boyd

Rochelle Ellen Boyd, 84, of Lovington, passed away 12:05 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at The Arthur Home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Lovington. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the services Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lovington Volunteer Fire Department.
Rochelle was born June 19, 1939, in Decatur; the daughter of Charles R. and Rachel Nellie (Murphy) Taylor. She married Richard W. “Ike” Boyd on September 14, 1957, in Lovington. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2011. She taught Dental Assisting at Lakeland College for 25 years and was Co-Owner of Boyd’s Bus Service. Rochelle loved playing cards, dancing with her husband Ike, traveling and singing. She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Diana) Boyd of Saint Martin, Caribbean, Julie Kinert of Lovington and Jamison (Brandi) Boyd of Tuscola; sisters, Karen (Gary) McCoy of The Villages, FL, Marsha Schwartz of Pass Christian, MS, and Kathy (Kent) Schwerin of Flanagan; grandchildren, Nick (Candice) Boyd, Lauren (Craig) Kinert, Wyatt (Amanda) Ciszkowski, Tim (Rhi) Wickens, Rick (Makenzie) Boyd, Josiah (Bailee) Kinert, Makenna Boyd, Maddy Boyd and Declan Boyd. Rochelle is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Dave Kinert and brother-in-law, John Schwartz.

Marjorie ‘Margie’ Horn, 75, of Sullivan, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Thursday April 11, 2024 in her residence.

Celebration of Life Services were Monday April 15, 2024 in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Rodney Snow officiating. Burial took place in in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Marjorie ‘Margie’ Horn, 75, of Sullivan, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Thursday April 11, 2024 in her residence.
Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday April 15, 2024 in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Rodney Snow officiating. Visitation will be 3- 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Sullivan FFA. Margie was born January 6, 1949 in Pensacola, Florida, the daughter of Robert Owen and Maxine Yaw Davis. She had been a Physical Education teacher and girls basketball coach at Sullivan. She later worked at Horn Insurance in Sullivan and Metro Communications in Sullivan. She was a member of the Sullivan First Christian Church, Moultrie County Republican Women, had been a Precinct Committeewoman and a member of Eastern Star. She married Chester A. Horn on August 12, 1972.
Surviving are her husband Chester A. of Sullivan; son Zak Horn of Sullivan; brothers Jeri (Ruth Ellen) Davis of Sullivan, Mike Davis of California; sister Cheri Redfern of Lovington; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jane Ann and Steve Buxton of Texas and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Theron Redfern and nephews David Redfern and T.G. Redfern.

Helmeth receives Amtryke



News Progress


River Helmeth received an Amtryke from the Sullivan AMBUCS at their fundraising cookout last Saturday, May 9th, in the Kirby Foods parking lot. River rode her new Amtryke for the first time like a pro as her mom Stephanie, looked on. With a big smile and look of determination, River showed everyone how well she could ride.
