Sharon A. Daniels, 81, of Sullivan, passed away at 12:23 a.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at Eastview Terrace in Sullivan.
Celebration of Life services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday at Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Don Lusk officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Memorials are suggested to Sullivan Southern Baptist Church or Moultrie County Historical Society. Recent Obituaries: Jack Shroyer

Jack M. Shroyer, 98, of Lovington, passed peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Arthur Home, one day before his 99th birthday.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Keller Cemetery, Lovington. Memorials may be made to the American Foundation for the Blind: 1401 S. Clark St., Ste. 730
Arlington, VA 22202. McMullin-Young Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.

 Jack was born and raised in Lovington until he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1942. During WWII Jack was stationed in San Diego where he met and married Martha Ferling who also served in the Marine Corp.

Jack and Martha returned to Lovington after the war and stayed until 1962 when they moved their young family to New Jersey. Jack retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a Contracting Officer around 1982 and he and Martha returned to Lovington.

Jack enjoyed hunting pheasant with his brittany spaniels and enjoyed attending draft horse shows throughout the Midwest. Jack was also a life member of the Free Masons Lovington and Arthur Lodge for 72 years.

Jack is survived by his children, Gary of Lovington and Rebecca of Pioneer, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife Martha, his brothers Don and Harold and his sister Betty Jane who passed as a young child.

William Tiberend

William (Bill) Tiberend passed away at home Saturday, January 15, after battling cancer for several months. Bill was born July 29, 1940, in Benton, Ill. to Beulah (Doty) and Theodore (Kaiser) Tiberend. He was raised on the farm, which he loved. Bill joined the Navy upon graduation from Benton High School in 1958. After his discharge, he settled in Benton and attended Southern Illinois University. He was married to Marcia (Fields), and they had two sons. He later married Leslie Lundy December 9, 1995. Read More

Mary Stone

Mary Ruth Stone, 89, of Sullivan, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, January 25, at Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan. Memorials may be made to Moultrie County Illinois PAWs, 10 Leisure Acres, Sullivan, IL 61951 or Courtyard Estates Activity Fund. McMullin-Young Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mary was born August 8, 1932, in Mattoon, the daughter of Bert and Blanche (Snapp) Highland. She married David Stone July 22, 1951, at Smyser Christian Church, and he preceded her in death July 16, 2011. Mary enjoyed gathering with family, and in her younger days, she hosted the Highland Family Thanksgiving at “the farm”. She always looked forward to the annual Highland Family Reunion. Mary loved spending time with her extended family at Courtyard. She had a very loving and special heart for her animals.
She is survived by her sons, Dan (Debbie) Stone of Marion and Scott (Linda) Stone of Harrison, Tenn.; daughter, Teri (Catfish) Stone of Sullivan; granddaughters, Hannah (Blake) Vayda of Georgetown, Tenn., and Sidney Stone of Harrison, Tenn.; brother, Jake Highland of Shelbyville; sisters, Betty Ward of Jackson, Mich., and Alda (Marvin) Fridley of St. Louis, Mo.; sister-in-law, Joan Highland of Sullivan and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Bert and Dick Highland, and sister, Martha Schrodt.

The Kirby Foods meat department delivered hams to the Moultrie County Food Pantry on Wednesday the 16th, thanks to a generous anonymous donation. The hams will provide a nice Easter dinner.
