Harris on December 22, 1956; together they shared 64 loving years of marriage. In earlier years Wanda and Cliff ran Harris Radio/TV in Charleston, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Mason Point Retirement Center in Sullivan, and later was a homemaker raising six children on the family farm in rural Vandalia.
Wanda was a Christian woman who was strong in her faith, she grew up attending the Church of God, later in life you would often find her praying, reading her bible, and memorizing scripture. She enjoyed the more traditional things in life like gardening, canning, and cooking for her family; she also liked watching the country music shows on RFD every Saturday night. She looked forward to the annual family reunion where she would get to reminisce with relatives, and couldn’t wait for Mother’s Day every year so she could talk to all her children on the same day. She was so proud of her six children, she would tell everyone she met about them, leaving a lasting impact of love in their lives too. She was a caring mother and loving grandmother that will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Cliff Harris of Vandalia; sons, Douglas Harris and wife Clara of Auburn, Keith Harris and wife April of Greenup, Don Harris and wife Lisa of Flora, and Bill Harris of Effingham; daughters, Wanetta Harris and Michelle Harris of Vandalia; seven grandchildren, Austin “AJ” Harris, Clint Harris, Chad Harris, Ashley Bryant, Ashley Harris Bell, Jacob Harris, and Jessica Harris; twelve great grandchildren; and sister, Leatitia and husband Elvin Elder of Sullivan.
