In his third year coaching golf at Arcola, Tyler Renshaw is excited to have the addition of Atwood-Hammond to the Arcola-Arthur-Lovington golf team. This year, the co-op altogether has produced 11 players, six from Arthur-Lovington, five from Arcola, and one from Atwood-Hammond–the largest group since Renshaw became coach.
“It’s a big increase,” said Renshaw.
Last year, not only did the team possess just five players, but they managed to win only one match–an ugly stat Renshaw says he believes will change this year.
“I’m certainly excited about the season,” said Renshaw. “Coming off a tough year last year, it’s hard for a coach in having had low numbers…We want the golf team to grow and grow and grow. With 11 kids, that’s great. It makes for better practices, better camaraderie. I’m very excited to have another shot at it.”
