Melvin Reynolds W. Melvin Reynolds, age 84, of Allenville, went to be with God at 4:40 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018. He was home surrounded by his family while they said their farewells through tears of sorrow and grief. Celebration of Life services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Dolan officiating. Burial was in French Cemetery in Allenville. Melvin, as he’s well known, was born Sunday, April 1, 1934 to Luther and Bernice Malone Reynolds in Shelby County, Illinois. Moultrie Douglas Fair Elects New Officers

•December 5, 2018• The Board of Directors for the Moultrie Douglas County Fair and Agricultural Association recently elected Jim Fleming of Arthur as the new president for the fair. Fleming becomes the 14th president for the fair and takes over from Sandy Hoke of Tuscola. Also elected was Sarah Reedy of Tuscola as vice president. Joining Fleming and Reedy on the officer team are Michelle Strader of Hindsboro as secretary and Megan Beckmeier of Atwood as treasurer. 25 Years Ago This Week Sullivan American Legion Post 68 helped secure medals for two veterans commemorating the 75th Anniversary of World War I. Marion W. “ Snapper” Yates, 94, formerly of Sullivan, and John H. Moffet, 98, of Windsor are the only known living WWI veterans living in the area. The American Legion also held a flag-burning ceremony. A photo of Stanley Guin accepting a tattered flag from Steven Keown for burning is shown. Sullivan Spanish Club Donates to Families in Need

The Spanish Club worked with Bright Start, a prevention program that supports children from birth to three years of age in order to achieve success in life. Members of the club were divided into four groups which worked to put together boxes for four different families of varying sizes.
