They started off in O’Fallon competing with the Seahawks, then competed in Stanford where several swimmers placed and came home with trophies and medals. In the Olympia Susan Schuber Memorial meet swimmers placed in the top six honors. Edna McFarland Edna Mae McFarland, 95, of Mattoon passed away at 10:20 p.m., Sunday November 4, 2018 in Odd-Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon. A memorial service in her honor was held at 12 p.m. Friday, November 9 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue in Mattoon. Pastor Dan Haifley officiated. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery. Military Rites were conducted at the cemetery by Mattoon VFW Post 4325. County Dive Team is Underwater on Funding

•November 14, 2018• By Mike Brothers Members of the Moultrie County Public Health and Safety committee learned how underfunded the County Dive Team is and will make recommendations for the county board to help. Moultrie County Dive Team coordinator Clay Brush appeared before the committee recently to explain changes in public safety diving standards and how it affects the ten-member dive rescue team. ALAH Girls Open Season with Overtime Win

•November 14, 2018• By Jason Brown NP Sports Editor The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond girls’ basketball team opened its season with a 66-54 overtime win against Meridian Monday night. Down two after the first quarter, ALAH outscored the Hawks 13-8 in the second quarter for a 27-24 lead. The Knights extended that lead to 41-34 into the fourth quarter, but Meridian mounted a comeback in the fourth to tie the game at 52. He was born Oct. 2, 1922 in Moultrie County, a son of M.D. and Edna Matheson Frederick. Bruce was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the ship Saginaw Bay.
