•October 10, 2018• The Okaw Valley volleyball team dropped a nonconference game against Arthur Christian Monday night. OV lost the first set 25-15 but battled back to win the second set 25-22. •October 10, 2018• The Sullivan American Legion Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show is Sunday, October 21 on the lawn of Post 68 on Main Street in Sullivan. Shirley Fay Park Shirley Fay Park, 79, of Auburn, formerly of Sullivan, passed away 5:23 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Auburn Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2018, at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to “PAWS” Protecting Animal Welfare Society: 400 W. Walnut Jacksonville, IL 62650. OV Volleyball Team Captures Conference

•October 3, 2018• The Okaw Valley volleyball team defeated Arcola in the Little Okaw Valley Conference Consolation Championship Monday night. OV started the tournament with a loss to Argenta-Oreana Saturday morning but bounced back Monday to defeat Arcola in straight sets. The Timberwolves won 25-20, 25-15 over the Purple Riders. The results are first place Okaw Valley – 1446; Central A&M – 1352; Cowden Herrick – 1194; Shelbyville – 1183; Pana – 920. Mode Soldier Retires After 34 Years in the Illinois Army National Guard

Tim Kessler of Mode, Illinois, has retired from the Illinois Army National Guard after 34 years of service in which he attained seven different military jobs, deployed to Afghanistan and to Germany, earned the Soldiers Medal for saving a woman from a toxic gas leak and served on multiple state activations including the Great Flood of 1993. Kessler has been a mainstay in the 634th Brigade Support Battalion, said Lt. Col.
