Habitat ReStore Gets a Restart in Sullivan

•August 1, 2018• By Mike Brothers Tara Reed has a vision and since taking over as manager of the Moultrie County Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Sullivan, it’s a vision teamed with elbow grease. “I love cleaning and organizing,” Reed said, noting her goal is to give ReStore customers a warm, friendly, local department store experience. Blue Dolphins Compete At Regional Championship

•August 1, 2018• By J.D. Graham for the Blue Dolphins The Sullivan Blue Dolphins finished out the summer season with championship meets. For the 14th year in a row the Dolphins have continued to compete at the higher levels. Eleven swimmers competed in the Regional Championship meet in Peoria July 20-22. Swimmers representing SBD are Natalie Drury, Anna Wooters, McKenna Kull, Brodie Goss, Calista Clark, Gabrielle Spain, Mackenzie Erixon, Ethan Schmohe, Emily Crosier, Johnathan Iacobazzi and Isaac Chambers. Mountain Bike Weekend at Lake Shelbyville

•August 1, 2018• The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is partnering with the Lake Volunteers Association, Central Illinois Mountain Bike Association, and the General Dacey Trail Mountain Bike Club to host the First DirtWorx MTB Fest on September 14-16. DirtWorx MTB Fest invites mountain bikers to spend the weekend camping at Coon Creek Campground as they enjoy the trails Lake Shelbyville has to offer, including the General Dacey Trail and Camp Camfield. A Collector who Shared By Ellen Ferrera for the News Progress At a recent meeting in a Titus Library conference room in Sullivan I noticed a large collection of car hood ornaments along one wall. The benefactor of this collection was Lynn R. Huntsburger. Huntsburger was born on the last day in December, 1913 in a little frontier town in North Dakota. His mother was from Lovington, and when she died, he was sent to live with relatives in Kansas and then to others in Cadwell. Gretchen Morrison Gretchen Diane Bailey Morrison passed away peacefully in her home in Louisville, Ky. on July 15, 2018. She was born on May 12, 1944. A native of Lovington, Gretchen graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in education. An avid learner, she went on to earn multiple masters’ degrees as well as her Ph.D. Gretchen possessed many unique talents including needlepointing, knitting, sewing, cooking, decorating, antiquing, and gardening.
