•February 14, 2018• Moultrie County Clerk Georgia England would like to remind residents of Moultrie County that the deadline to register to vote or transfer/change registration for the upcoming March 20 General Primary Election is Tuesday, February 20. Residents may register to vote at the County Clerk’s office, Moultrie County Courthouse, 2nd floor in Sullivan from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration is also available at all Moultrie County libraries and with the Precinct Committee persons. Bethany Village Board Approves Ag Project, Police Act on Junk Autos
•February 14, 2018• By Ellen Ferrera for the News Progress Chris Nichols, Bethany police chief, told Bethany Village Board members about a program of getting rid of junk autos in the village. The recently appointed chief suggested that a grant for a new squad car might be available from the state, but it will depend on funding from the federal government in the funding budget. Bob Boyer and sons, Ben and Ted of Bethany, have donated a total of 21 gallons (170 pints) of blood in the years that they have been donating. Area students recently graduated from the DARE (Drug and Alcohol Resistance Awareness) program and celebrated with pizza parties. •February 14, 2018• By Jason Brown NP Sports After defeating Villa Grove in the first round of the IHSA Class 2A Arthur Regional, the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond girls’ basketball season came to an end with a loss to Tuscola last Tuesday. In a back-and-forth barnburner, Tuscola took the early 10-8 first-quarter lead, but ALAH battled back to take a 27-24 halftime lead.
