To try to improve on last year’s overall record of 17-13, Inman, in his third year as head coach, returns a senior heavy team with nine, along with seven letter winners. The Timberwolves will have to replace the loss of last year’s offensive focal point Connor Cloyd, which will be difficult. OV also will have to overcome a tougher non-conference schedule. New Trustee for Lovington Village Board

•November 15, 2017• The Lovington Village Board approved Gary Clem as replacement trustee for the seat vacated by Jim McMahon at the October 9 meeting. Clem’s recommendation by village president Roger Walker noted he agreed to serve over the water department for the next 18 months. Doug Smith, Brenda Wood, Pam Anklam, Dennis Garmon and April Daily voted unanimously for Clem’s appointment. Following a closed session discussion the board moved to vacate and sell a small portion of N. County St., north of William St. with owners of adjoining property incurring the expense. Zak Horn, owner of MCC Network Services, LLC, was elected to the school board in 2016 and telecommunications services was provided Sullivan Unit District #300 by his company prior to that. “The law is clear on this,” Horn told the board. “I can not touch the money.” Taking the money from the district would be a conflict that could carry a felony charge. Windsor Woman Wins a Million Dollars

•November 15, 2017• Lisa Doss of Windsor won $1 million from a scratch-off lottery ticket according to the Illinois Lottery. Doss plans to invest the money, which she opted to take in a lump sum of $600,000, the lottery said in a news release. She won the prize playing the $300,000,000 Cash Spectacular scratch-off game. Doss had previously won two $1,000 prizes from the game, which costs $10 to play. The winning ticket was sold at the EK Petro Mart in Windsor. 25 Years Ago This Week The Sullivan school district will levy $66,000 less than the previous year in the coming tax year under a tentative tax levy approved by the board. Two reasons for the reduction include lower amounts needed for bonds and interest and the equalized assessed valuation increased by $4 million in Moultrie County. The education fund levy increased by $44,000 and building space lease $2,000. Moultrie County Board Votes Down Paintball Facility

•November 15, 2017• Moultrie County residents concerned about having a paintball facility witnessed the measure voted down by the county board Nov. 9. In the absence of planning and zoning chair Todd Maxedon, Gary Smith presented the application by Johnny Chauncy Tandarich to rezone property from agriculture to commercial for a paintball recreational facility.
